Was looking at some of the player stats and noticed something interesting. Even though we're 8 and 6, (which is good, but not excellent) most of our players are having career best years.

These are the players who statistically are having their best year ever:

Troy Simmonds
Patrick Bowden
Kayne Pettifer
Greg Tivendale
Andrew Kellaway
Brett Deledio
Chris Hyde
Andrew Krakouer
Andrew Raines
Richard Tambling
Nathan Foley
Brent Hartigan
Danny Meyer

Interesting that all these guys are our mid tier, up and coming players. Our main 'stars', Richo, Cogs, Sugar, J.Bowden, Tuck are all down in form statistically yet we're playing really well.

I think everyone has to pull their weight, team efforts etc. to keep going well.

You cannot really rely on one or two players to get us over the line each week.

That was Port's weakness, no Chad Cornes, Cassissi, Tredrea nad Shaun Burgoyne doign nothing, they were nothing but another scalp in our hat.

I agree except on Tivendale, Kellaway and Hartigan. Meyer hasn't been dramatically better than last year and Polo certainly belongs on the list. I don't think that you can say that first or second year players are really having 'career years' though.

Tivva's improved dramatically and is consistently contributing week in, week out this season.

I think there's a case to say Kella's year is up with his best. He's redefined himself and is running his opponent ragged providing options for us. and often popping up in the forward line. He's covering a power of distance this year. He always provides his trademark tough, never say die style of play. The kids must be so inspired by the way he puts his body on the line so often. A great season from Andy.

A highlight is the kids all contributing rather than being carried by the senior players. Exciting signs for a good future.

A good spread of players all putting their bit in means you are always in with a chance.
If you have four or five players expected to carry the can every week then as soon as they get picked off you get flogged.
Not stupid enough to suggest that we are anywhere comparable but the thing that made Brisbane so good ( apart from the quality of their list) for so many years was that they always had plenty of players doin a bit not just a few trying to do it all as they are now starting to find out.

My point was that Tivva was third in the B&F in 2002? and Kellaway has been AA before meaning that as well as they are playing I wouldn't say that they are 'career years'.

Statistically some of these players may be having their best years as the style of footy has changed and there is a lot more posession footy being played this year than any previous years. Other guys have just played more games to this point in time, than they did last year.
