You can't pick up a newspaper or turn on the radio without hearing some hack from Carlto talking them up. Today Carazzo was on SEN, yesterday again on SEN Radar was organising something with Steven and Scotland and a tennis player. Last weekend we had photos in the newspapers of their pre-season.
I am hoping they are believing all the hype that one player (Judd) will make them premiership certainty. I cant wait to bring them back to a harsh reality round one. I for one like our very quiet preseason this year - it feels right. There seems to be an attitude of "no talk, let our actions speak".

Carlton's off season reminds me a bit of Richmond's in 2004/05. A lot of publicity about new coach, new footy department, good draft picks etc. Richmond all over the paper. Round 1, didn't get close.

Round 1 should be fun and the trolls for either team will love it. But its quite likely to be fools gold as often in round 1 teams can come out and look flat and a surprise can come about which has no bearing on how a club will actually go for the year. But because its the first game its all people have to go on so a small sample is stretched to dynamic proportions.

Remember how crap the pies v roos game was in round 1. Grant missing the goal with the 50m penalty late in the game. Both teams looked like bottom 4 sides.

Essendon rolling over Adelaide in Adelaide with some exciting play. Essendon are back baby.......

Brisbane beating Hawthorn in a shocking game with Hawthorn kicking 2 goals in 3 quaters of play. They talked up their new game plan and exciting forward line but looked like wooden spooners.

Carlton rolling Richmond and Pagan saying the corner had been turned and the club was on the up.

WB beating Geelong. eade is a genius and top 4 beckons and how long will Thompson survive?

That was just round 1.

someone will be gutted at the end of round 1 and call the season over and want the coach sacked but most likely round 1 wont mean much and just be a feeling out process and a lot of hype and no real substance. Round 2 will mean a lot more when teams make a few adjustments.

Like I have said before happy to fly under the radar and let Carlton get the hype.

Hype does not win games. The RFC got far too carried with the hype and spin over the two years and like Wallace said the RFC need to get back to winning respect by earning it on the paddock. The rest doesn't matter.

Win this and we not only silence the scum, put Judd back in his box and start the season with a bang.

This should be attacked with everything we have..... balls to the wall, no prisoners, vomit on the interchange.....we should set records for tackles and 1 percenters....we should say nothing leading up to the game...St Francis and KB should rev em up.......every member should be there and when we get to YELLOW AND BLACK I want the glass in the boxes to explode FOR THIS IS THE RETURN OF THE TIGER and IT WANTS BLOOD!

Its a bit like round 1 in 2005. Ottens grudge match talk it up in the media and call Ottens out. Get smashed and there is no way Richmond will recover to go on and its odds on for the spoon. Finish on 10 wins and a very good year all said and done but maybe i go back and bump the threads from after that game and see what was said.....

Round 1 2006. Old coach against old team. A bit of chat about Grant and a few others and the Dogs win by over a 100 and it looks like the club is falling apart. Club goes on to win 11 games in 2006 and have a very good year.

Yet at the time it seemed like it had to be a win or a competitive game or the year felt like it was over before it begun.

For the first time in my life I want us to go out there and not only play good hard football but I want to see Jackson on Judd like a rash (one that HURTS) and Simmo show Kreuzer what the big league is about (provided he plays) and every single player go out to physically intimidate their opponent, to hurt them and be willing to hurt for the team. For me round one this year is not only about winning, it's about winning with a trail of battered and bloody blues left in our wake. I have always hated the scum but after last year I truly loathe them and wish that they had gone bust.

I just hope we can find at least 22 players in the group who are the same.
