For all those worried that Carlton will get Judd and Kruezer and by implication success, I am not so sure.

Isn't this the same Club that until recently (and before maybe some fancy accounting practices) was miles in the red, falling membership, needed AFL propping up and couldn't afford to ditch its coach because of the break costs of the contract ?

So what has changed? The arrival of a billionaire white knight (Pratt) last year looked fine until his latest business misdemeanour leaves him exposed as a rort and cheat.

So what have Carlton got now?

A dud list, unproven coach, probably hidden debts and a president who personally and by practice will be under scrutiny.

This club has developed a very IMO unhealthy obsession and proposes to pay massive amounts to a player who just may have burnt his body out ala Buckley but at 24 not 35. It must pay big bucks for recent first draft picks as well as keeping the Fevolas of the world in the money they expect. It also expects a player to just "walk" for the good of the trade (Club)

I remember Richmond being equally obsessed with a champion (one J Pitura) who ended up not living up to expectations, but more than that we traded away the live wire and soul of the club and another guy who ended up winning a Brownlow ! (The third guy is now back with us recruiting).

Whilst sometimes cheats do prosper, I believe that Carlton ( not withdstanding Kouta's svings and increased membership) are basically having a last roll of the dice in desparation to get back to their previously ill gotten heights. If Richmond has helped this process of over extension that will be good enough for me. That and watching the Carlton members walking away again.

Lets see and I would also be interested to see if Judd is ready for RD 1 next season.

How did we help over extend them ? They got, by the latest accounts, Judd and Pick #1. We did nothing. It was the Collingwoods of this world who would have forced CFC to offer Judd the world and a couple of moons, not us.

We did Sweet FA to Carlton if the deal that's been reported is the one that went down.

Getting Carlton to offer $2 mio as a plan B to stop RFC reflects their mindset.

Without us in the mix there is now way Josh Kennedy would be on the table.

Agreed without us there the Blues would have got 3 & Kennedy or 3 & 20. I am disappointed they didn't give up pick 1 simply because the Blues should have put a fair a reasonable offer on the table. I have to say the cheaters just look like a bunch of very, very shady car dealers now. Make no mistake based on this Carlton will become the new Collingwood - a club all other teams and their supporters will hate and cheer with disdain wishing them to fail because they have are a bunch of losers who despite this have the audacity to think they still rule the roost - what a pathetic bunch of subsidised no hopers with an ugly, devious, underhanded culture and brand.

You're right, p64. Carlton will continue to live in its own filth.

I dont think it is all cut and dried yet.

If I was Kennedy I'd say no to the West Coast move. Supposedly he has settled into Melbourne and has made good friends here. West Coast face an uncertain future with no Judd and still big question marks over Cousins, Kerr etc. If he believes in Carlton's future why wouldn't he want to stay if Judd is coming there.

So I still think Kennedy might say no, and Carlton's last chance is to use pick #1.

All is not yet lost. I'd rate this scenario about a 30% chance of happening.

If we didn't have pick 1 in the PSD; if carlton had that pick, then they would have offered pick 40 and maybe Eddie Betts, maybe to the WCE for Judd.

I reckon he'll go to the Eagles.

They buttered him up with a bit of a drinking session with old mates, who were all probably all paid out by Pratt to act really nice to Josh.

I bet Carlton aren't saying 'Look mate, if you want to stay with us, that's ok, it's your decision'.

lets all have a laugh at WCE, ready...

If I were a Blues fan I would be worried that Judd will improve them right away, but Kruezer, Gibbs and others won't peak for another 4 years or so after Judd is past his prime but still sucking up masses of cap space.

I wonder whether they haven't just bought themselves shot term respectability at the cost of opening a longer term premiership window

What if Kennedy says no, so Judd decides to stay in Perth?
Man I really feel for this kid. Regardless of him wanting to stay he really has no choice but to agree, could you imagine the ramifications if he said no and the Scum didn't get Judd? To me the obvious ones are...
a. He wouldn't be playing a whole lot of AFL next year
b. How would his team-mates feel about this? Would they see it as a sigh of loyalty or a sign of disloyalty?
c. Geez those Carlscum ferals would be on him like white on rice. I think he would be the most booed player in the history of the game, and all without good reason.

Poor kid!
