Speculation is building as we wait for a special press conference announced by Age journalist Carline Wilson and Herald Sun journalist Mark Robinson.
Rumours began to abound last night when Caro could not be contacted after the Footy Classified Show. The subject of those rumours was Caro's inability to land a 'big' story.
Equally, speculation has grown that Robinson has been under enormous pressure since his public support for 'mate' Grant Thomas in criticising the AFL.
Apparently a meeting was organised between Caro & Robbo via Thomas, incidentally Caro's co-host on Footy Classified.
A separate source has alleged that the two came together at a regular meeting spot for journalists and hatched a plan to:
1. Get Caro a big story, and
2. Find a distraction from Robbo's last story.
Speculation grew when it was alleged both Caro & Robbo were this morning absent from their respective work offices without notice. Both the Herald Sun and the Age have regular football editorial meetings, on a Tuesday, to plan their weekend newspaper stories. Colleages admit that both were under enormous pressure to land a big one.
It has also been alleged that both newspapers initially sacked both reporters but threatened with an impending football journalists strike, the papers relented.
A secret source revealed that she'd recently had a very disturbing conversation with Ms Wilson. She revealed that Caro had been feeling long time hurt at the fact that years ago both she and Robert Walls were guest panelists on a midweek TV football review program, Talking Footy. Robert Walls had gone on to host his own football TV programs, whereas Caro had progressed to being viewed as the 'token' female on the male dominated Footy Classified.
This long time angst was allegedly brought to a boiling point when Caro went to her local supermarket to find out that they had discontinued "her favourite 'tiger skinned' patterned Meds", so said our source.
Robinson had allegedly encountered a similar problem in the rectal implant section of his favourite 'adult services' store.
As tension builds we will keep you posted on the details from the expected conference.
