change your mind on Dimma if we lose?

Tomorrow wont change my mind. IMO its easier to build a side from the depths to mid table than it is to take a mid table team to the top. I am not convinced he can take us to the top. Seeing the same things happening 12 months apart is a worry for mine. And to date, i just cant see any improvement from last year and if anything i reckon we have regressed. Still we have 16 weeks to go so a lot can happen.

The club expects finals this year, having not made them last year which meant the 3-0-75 Is no longer achievable. If we don't make it, then there should be changes......given Benny said every one at the club is accountable for the goals that were set.

So Benny should go as well?

Totally agree

Wouldnt have thought so.

So far we remain on track with two of the three pillars of the 3-0-75. The onfield one is the one that has let us down, and not making finals this year would be a big miss. There would be aspects of the football dept that would come under scrutiny if we miss the 8 this year and i would expect changes to be made, if not the coach then at least with his support staff.

No.

I still think Hardwick has done a remarkable job at Tigerland.

There is no doubt we have improved on last year.

Whether we win or lose against Port this weekend will not change my mind.

I wonder if they had similar thoughts about Bomber Thompson in 05/06.

Stop comparing us to Geelong. They had the players. What are we going to do turn Jackson, Newman & conca into chapman, Corey & ablett?
Hardwick isn't doing what he was doing 2 years ago, playing kids.
He is relying on spammers like Jackson, Newman & Grigg
Instead of getting more kids he brings in knights & pettard.
And then you ask why we never see September.

Which kids should be in the team who aren't and why should they be? We had to focus on getting experience into youth for a period but now selection should be on merit rather than age.

That's a ridiculous, very selective comparison. The 3 Tigers you name probably won't ever be the equivalent of those 3 Cats. More to the point forget who you perceive as our lesser players and tell me which of 3 our best players will turn into Chapman, Corey and Ablett?

The answer to the question in the thread is no.

Its been a slow, steady and deliberate build and it will continue win or lose. Dimma has a contract until the end of next year and he will be our coach until then at the very least.

Agree.

I don't have an opinion of DH to change really. He is the coach of the team I love so I really hope he does well in his role. Fact is he will be our coach at least until his contract expires and will be judged on his record at the time. He has the best resources available to him that any of our coaches have ever had in our history. I hope he can make the most of that.

I hope we don't prematurely rush to extend his contract just the same. That's not a reflection on DH. There just doesn't seem to be any need at this stage.

I really don't understand your logic here Phil. Dimma has taken us from crap to mid-tier, tick. Thats been going on over the last few seasons and thats where wev'e arrived at now. Now I agree its tougher ask getting from mid tier to top, but isn't that the job at hand now and over the next few seasons? You're implying we should already be there, as if we should have skipped step 1, or incorporated steps 1 and 2 as 1 step. Also, everything has to go perfectly for there to be an uninterupted upwards trajectory. Is that realistic? Not in my experience anyway.

This kind of thread typifies why we have such a stigma in regard fickleness and eating our own. :(
