Changes for the Esserdope Game Friday Nite

Like everyone else here, I have no idea, but there is a rumour (and it is only a rumour) that he wants to go home to SA. Could be an explanation.

Seems like the only logical reason why he isnt even named an emergency.

With Morris back we start 3 goals behind before the ball is bounced.

If the rumour wasn't true before it will be now

The concern I have with these changes is based on their past form their inclusions vs the exclusions change the balance of the team enormously.
This is what I am worried about...
1) Grigg goes to his wing (I ignore the VFL contested/clearance numbers - this is AFL and he has been crap inside for years) pushing one of Brandon or Lids more inside to areas where they are less effective.

Grigg will play on Heppell. debatable whether that means he will play inside or not.

19 tackles and 15 clearances in his last 4 games at AFL level.

Heppell will slaughter Grigg inside.

Yep a little surprised he wasn't named but absolutely astounded he isn't even in the 3 emergencies...

Cant wait for this one.

Morris will bust chappy in 2. and Griggsy will have a blinder.

Had A$1m on Dusty for most goals.

go tiges

Apparently Grigg killed it in the last quarter against Sandy. Got tons of clearances in that last quarter, yet we lost the quarter 7 goals to 2.

As Guru Bob says " Tink about dat!"

You're not seriously blaming it on one player?

No, I am suggesting that Grigg killing it at clearances doesn't mean very much from a team performance perspective.

There are clearances and then there are clearances and puncey pokes 10 metres forward and 35 metres up aren't very damaging!

Did you watch either of his games in the 2's? Where are you getting the "puncey pokes" from?

Not a huge Grigg fan, but I am pleased he was returned through the 2's and even more pleased that he dominated. I have no problem with him being included, and not a bad replacement for Conca - probably an upgrade based on Conca's recent form.

I would have preferred to have seen Morris come back via the 2's also. His form this year does not warrant an automatic inclusion. I would rather have seen McDonough or Lennon get a game - both would be capable of providing better offensive play, although defensively and defensive pressure Morris has an obvious advantage.

If both Grigg and Morris can walk straight back into the firsts after the seasons they have had , then someone should be shot for the state of our second XVIII.

That's a fair and measured post. I agree.

We're going in with pretty much our strongest available team. Playing to win and I reckon we will win. It's good to only have 2 players on the injury list at this stage of the season. Disappointing that another 2 players aren't available due to their selfish lack of discipline.

I successfully predicted the ins. Grigg had two decent games for the VFL and successfully proved his fitness and application to the contest, he was the logical replacement for Conca. I also knew the moment Morris started making noises about being over the hand injury that he'd also be selected. I don't know why this is, but apparently the only way Steve Morris cannot be selected this year is if he's suspended or too badly injured to hide it, he certainly isn't earning his spot based on form.
