George had a bad case of the fumbles all day. Daniel quiet, Chol a bit lost, Bolton and Short ordinary. There are a few who will be a bit nervous about selection this week. Jack Graham- love your work!

Actually, the Soldo and Chol hitout numbers have been poor - well beaten against Cwood and Dees. Soldo today just 7 possessions in the VFL - hardly great in sunny conditions (we kicked 19 goals).

I'm calling time on the Balta farce. He'll be consistently more competitive than Chol and get at least as many hitouts. He actually jumps in ruck contests.
If we play a ruckman other than Chol or Soldo, it won't be Balta, it will be CJ.

CuJo will be more competitive than Chol too. But he hasn't been exposed as much so I doubt the MC will play that card with finals footy starting this week. (The same may be true for Balta too.)

Balta was great in the reserves. Could well come in for Chol.

If the weather looks like it will be dry then we’ll need a taller backline
I’d drop Chol, Short , Caddy and Bolton.
In come Balta ( to play in the backline on a tall forward ), Dusty, Cotchin and Soldo

Gold Coast (SE - QLD).
Beating WCE would be good because we haven’t beaten them since early 2017 when Rioli won goal of the year.

They are the only team we haven’t beaten since winning our premiership.

And WCE are pretty good.
Premiers and current top 4, just like us.

Out: Chol, Short
In: Martin, Cotchin

Caddy to ruck against Allen.
We won’t go back to a mini ruck to fight this campaign. Our rucks will be Nank and Chol.
It was a difficult day for talls generally and Chol should not be removed on today’s performance.

Cotch and Dusty to return. Short to go back to the VFL.
Bolton had a shocker today but is still among our top 10.
Ditto Stack. I don’t know how others saw it but again I don’t think he ran very freely. If there is something in this he should be rested again next week.
Against WC we need to put it on their defenders with as much running pressure as possible.
If Stacky is still limited he should be rested again.
For the same reason ie the need for speed and pressure, Balta should come in and take a wing.
Caddy and Graham both did well but Caddy’s importance is less when Graham (and Ross are in).
Out Stack rested, Caddy and Short omitted.
In Balta, Cotchin and Martin.
B Broad Astbury Grimes
HB Edwards Valstuin Houli
C Balta Bolton Ellis
HF Rioli Castagna Lambert
F Martin Lynch Riewoldt
R Nankervis Ross Prestia
I/C Baker Chol Cotchin Graham
TBC Caddy and Stack.
