It depends on the player I guess.
Thats why I brought up the names of West, Harvey, and Buckley earlier.....these are players that have played in some deplorable teams/eras of their respective clubs but will still go down as 'elite' players of their time.
They were able to rise above the rest of the team and still beat their opposing player more often than not even though the team was languishing at the bottom of the ladder.
What is on Lids side is his age and his natural ability.
However another problem with Lids though is that if he feels his growth as a player is also plateauing at Richmond (like I think it is), will he be tempted to go elsewhere in the near future (a la Ottens)?
