Changes Vs Hawthorn

Heh heh....back to square one.

It's gonna be wet so why couldn't Edwards be used in attack also? Nuh...just bring McGun in no matter what form he's in.

weather will be like the freo game a couple of weeks back

bit damp underfoot, cold and strong wind from the northern end. Because of the stands, the wind doesn't favour any end, but becomes flukey on the field

the wind hopefully will disrupt Hawthorn's aerial marking

i was thinking that too , though with their field kicking in mind as much as marking

I thought he had been performing well at Coburg.

Prefer McGuane to Edwards but gee neither should be getting games of AFL footy. Stephenson was always going to happen if Bickery was out. Maric is in no state to ruck a whole game on his own and we don't have any other rucks. Stephenson a btter option than what we would have had to bring in last year, Graham or Browne. Astbury also a logical selection, hopefully he can put it together as he has talent. Alas we're going to get soundly beaten.

Don't mind it from a structure point of view - it's just that Stephenson and McGuane aren't good enough. If it was Vickery and McBean for example (as it hopefully will be next year), then we're back to the structure of two key forwards and a resting ruck/forward.

With Astbury, we're back to three tall players in the back half which again is a better model. Replace Astbury with Grimes and this structure would be better as well. With Houli, Morris and possibly Delidio in the back half, that means there is some ball users among them.

Three handy ins next week will be Grimes Vickery & King

Rain forecast for tomorrow. Similar conditions to our win last year at the G..

Could we see a late change?

the only changes we could make for the weather are either O or Maric out for Lonergan/AEdwards, or Astbury out for Batchelor.
Regardless of the weather either of these would be very risky, relying on McGuane as 2nd ruck, or having batch play on Hale.

Any of the changes you suggest would seriously weaken an already weakened team. W have to go with Dimma's selection

...our matchups are way better vs the Hawks on the MCG than today.
Not worried about Petterd being out.
I think we'll be way over the odds based on an overreaction from today's game...

Unfortunately I backed us to win by "under" 39.5. Gambling sucks.
