Channel Ten - Storey Regarding Injury to young Tiger!!

Having missed the whole pre-season, the 'won't be available till round 3' line is basically meaningless. It's impossible for him to have any impact on AFL without a preseason behind him. I suggest we completely forget about the boy until 2009, and even then not expect much.

It's been said before but I'll say it again. Injury management is once again found wanting down at Punt Rd.

Did I miss something, I just woke up, what's the problem with our injury management now?

Didnt he do his ankle late last year and came back to play in the finals?

Do all those who named Cale Morton in their box during the draft night preview now collect their prizes?

Yes, and here it is.

Leysy'll rip into our fitness staff as well as anyone where it's warranted. i.e Simmonds & Brown.

Happy with the club on this one. You've got to be on the long term ijury list for a minimum 8 weeks. Putting it on there now means he can play Round 3. We've held him back from training & He's had zero pre-season. He's not going to be ready for round 1 even if he starts training now.

Why not give the carrot to our rookies that there's a spot there for the start of the season & Cotch can play with Coburg early enough enough in the year if all goes well.

Leysy thinks we've played this one alright.

Of more concern to me is Thurstys knee, is it the same one he had reconstructed? is it going to turn into a chronic knee injury like *smile* and Turners?

How long ago was late last year? 6 months ago?
I've heard people saying it might even be a "hot spot" similar to Nathan Brown's broken leg. The ankle isn't the best.
I'm not buying into this achilles problem...just a cover up for the real problem.

Have been told by a reliable source that Cothin's ankle has swelled up is now a long term injury. I was told that he will certainly miss the NAB Cup and possibly the first few months of the season.

The Analyst started this thread on Xmas eve and everyone got stuck into him(me included) and he hasn't posted since.
So from me, if your still keeping an eye on the place, it's a belated thanks for the "good" mail Analyst and sorry for the p--- taking.
Hope you get some more mail for us off his Uncle. It would be interesting to see where he's really at.

Sometimes it gets a bit hard to manage an injury properly if the player himself is trying to cover the extent of the problem.
There's been plenty of cases of players trying to push through and say nothing

Agree. I have bemoaned our lack of expertise in this area but undoubtedly giving a 17 year old extra time off is the correct move.

This is a blessing in disguise IMO. Unless you're Chris Judd there's a lot to be said for climbing the ladder to AFL gradually.

I broke my ankle playing footy over 10 years ago & now the dr wants to fuse it.It has slowly got worse as each year has gone on.Now i hope to bloody hell Trent will not go down the same path, but for them to come out & say 8 weeks sounds a little like Simmonds last year.

he has missed all pre season & also having a so called achilles problems.I know we would all love to see him back soon, but the realistic thing they could come out & say is "Trent is struggling, but we are not going to rush the boy,he is a very big investment & we cant chance his footballing future with us,he will be ready when he is ready"

I agree. Why rush him. We have plenty of players with "potential" ahead of him who we need to make the call on one way or the other.
