Chick given the flick.

guys like chick are the reason judd and cousins arent forced to do the dirty stuff and only have to focus on getting the footy

while all the class A ball winners were twiddling their thumbs chick was the one saving goals and smothering attempted inside 50's in the last 5 minutes of a grand final

One dimensional dinosaur. Good riddance to a totally unskilled player. Players like Roo, went from being a chick to being AA, Premiership, Brownlow superstars.

roo was never like chick, shows how much footy you watch

he was playing sa seniors when he was 15, a gun player with hardness to match

chick is a role player which was the type needed by the eagles in a side filled with superstars

He's too old to be considered for us now, and his off-field exploits would scare us off anyway, but he was a solid contributor who knew his role and carried it out to aplomb.

I hate the Eagles and was spewing that they won last year, but that effort in the GF last year had me applauding.

I'm hoping that Daniel Jackson can turn into an on-field clone.

:rofl

I was a crows supporter, dont tell me what i didnt watch. Been to many games just to watch roo.
Fact is that roo went from being a thug hardman who did all the unskilled close checking stuff to being a champion with skill.

Not suprised you stick up for chick though, you have shown you wouldnt recognise players skill from a bar of soap.

Its not a matter of not rating him at all, it's just that he is too old for our requirements. As has been posted earlier on this thread, if there are some of his type in the draft I would be delighted for us to draft them.

He goes hard at the ball every time. He might instill pride into the jumper once again and get us back playing finals, it's been far to long that we have had to wait.

i would say you should take the blinkers of. stop overrating rfc players and start having a proper look at opposition players. sheesh !! if this is not possible how about a crows membership or a reality pill.

What I find interesting is that we hear a bit about 'glass half full' players on this site and although I can see the benefits that the Chick lovers have pointed out, I don't quite understand why he isn't given a similar label particularly as one of his obvious weaknesses is turning the ball over. Just to illustrate this, Chick had less disposals than Pattison this year, yet he made basically the same amount of errors. So on one hand we have the young Richmond tall who obviously gives his all, sticks up for his mates, does a lot of 1%ers, runs all day, does great work around the clearances but struggles with his kicking and on the other hand we have the Eagle veteran who gives his all, sticks up for his mates, does a lot of 1%ers, gives good second efforts, is good at blanketing his opponent but struggles with his dispoal. One gets unbridled admiration and the other one gets as much ridicule as he does praise.

What situations is Pattison getting his disposals in versus the situations Chick is ? For example, given he takes many more marks, are many of Pattisons disposals just hand offs and short kicks sideways ?

What is Pattison's disposal efficiency like when it isnt a stop play situation ?

And in respect of disposals themselves, what's the ratio of handballs to kicks between the two ? Obviously someone who handballs more than the other should have a higher efficiency rating.

Chick can be hot and cold, but his upside WOULD be worth the risk.

Problems for us though are:

1) Age - Too old our team

2) Off Field - Dont need the headaches (the rumours I have heard are bad enough ::))

Pattison averaged 5.2 kicks and 8.3 handballs. Chick averaged 5.1 kicks and 6.9 handballs. They averaged the same amount of long kicks.

Pattison gets quite a few of his disposals in contested situations (twice as many as Chick, 2 to 1) and often handballs out of tight packs. Yes he dishes it off if the opportunity is there and does the occasional short pass but Chick's played a fair bit in the backline this year so I'm pretty sure he'd have had a few easy targets to hit (or miss) as well.

Either way Chick makes a lot of errors. Kane Johnson made only 4 more for the year yet had 248 more disposals. This year isn't any different to the last 6 or 7 either as he's had basically the same result each year and when he was getting a few more touches playing for Hawthorn he was turning it over more often.

Pull your head out ya arse Wayne, I've heard some *smile* in my time, but you take the cake, a Richmond supporter via Adelaide, I'd call that a mutant, an experiment gone wrong, into the the lab's furnace with you son!

if the stats of an experienced player like chick have to be defended against a player like patto who is struggling to become a senior AFL player then it says a lot i think.

chick averaged 12 possessions a game this year and a fair few clangers were among those.
too old, gets bugger all footy and skils aren`t crash hot.

no thanks.
