Dunno about you lot but I couldn't be much happier with tonight's performance when I put the "big picture lesn" across things.

Cotchin given some real midfield tasks to develop both sides of his game.
Richie turning into a real player. CLICK!
All our kids playing and we get within 17pts of a team on its 6th win on the trot.
General solid performance.
Never gave up and ran the game out ok.

Promising signs - if Edwards can "click" when RT has we might have a player. If JR learns a set shot routine we will have a real forward. Mitch was creative and our midfield stood up without Foley.

But we still lost - & probbaly on purpose. Melb won. And our hopes of cashing in on the last dcenet draft actually improved.

Well done Tiges. I reckon if we finish top 4 in the next few yrs there should be a Jade Rawlings statue erected pronto! This is exactly the performance most of us should expect and perhaps even hope for.

;D

It is good to see the kids playing.

Adelaide did what they had to last night, I really didn't think they got out of 3rd gear, with a 4th and 5th gear ready to go.

We still turned the footy over a hell of a lot, and without finger pointing, there is a bloke that gets 28 possessions a game and probably turns over 50 to 60% of them with over the back hand passes that he cannot execute effectively. I said it before, I'll say it again, Tuck should be a forward pocket, Tuff, good over head, and can kick a set shot. He would be very hard to match up on, this would give us an edge every week.

Jackson is coming along in every part of his game, he must work harder on kicking and stop trying to bullet pass every time, this is when he seems to miss kick.

Cousins is predictable at a free kick, always around the back, and as stated by fox tel commentators, he may work hard, but this doesn't work every time, and as we saw it cost us a goal when we had the momentum.

In terms of draft selections, today's win by Melbourne changes nothing. They will still finish last and scoop the pool, with celebrations all around. Round 22 will be interesting as we head over to Perth with the specific intention of handing the Eagles their 5th win and thus a bad outcome for them. What a farce AFL has become.

Perhaps not. Melbourne's already beaten us once, and that was with Wallace's job on the line.

If Melbourne beats us again, based on yesterdays match I'll go heave. Yes they had more endeavour but their skill level was unbelievably poor, definitely poorer than ours.

have a light lunch then, this is the other game Melbourne know they can win. It will only give them 3 wins for the year, that's no problem for them right?

Perhaps we can form a cartel with West Coast and Melbourne..."We'll let you win this one if you promise to win that one, and we'll give our veterans a send-off in the West in R22."  >:D

NB I'm being overly cynical and think the whole priority pick situation stinks.

The final weeks are a roundrobin forf the bottom teams. Even North can get a priority pick if they try hard enough, but Melb, Freo, WCE, North and us all have to play 2-3 games against each other.

Gentlemen, start your tanks!

We're going to have to be exceptional tankers to get a priority pick as we still have to play 5 of the bottom 7 sides (so Freo is the only cellar-dwellar we don't play).

WCE v Freo will be interesting this year.

Funny that TW literally admitted this morning on Game Day to tanking that last game against the Aints in 2007 to get the Cotch.

Gee, you'd hate to miss out on a Top 4 or a Top 8 on percentage because you decided to play a match in 3rd gear. Shaping up to be very important this year percentage, I doubt that Adelaide weren't playing to capacity. They were up 46 points early in the last and I reckon they'd actualy be very disappointed at their finish.

We might make a good run home and be a monty for the finals in 2010!

yes a good effort by the youngsters, however the overuse is a concern (has been for some time). Perhaps we should limit it to 3 handballs before a kick otherwise you are dragged (if the fourth player). hard to police, but when forwards are leading and we continue to handball around and go back, it makes it difficult for them and gives the opposition time to flood back.

hrmmmm - what to do?

Put a player in the forward line so there is someone to kick to?
