Excuse my ignorance.......but why haven't I heard Chris Bond's name mentioned (before todays HSun) when the topic of future coaches comes up?

I realise he is a player (like Campbell) that never experienced much success but what little I know of his coaching ability would put him a lot higher up the list than Campbell, McRae (who?) and Rawlings.

What are peoples opinions and is there a reason (contractual obligations, bad blood) he isn't in the mix?

The other one I would like to at least hear some thought go into would be Craig Lambert....???

I thought we were considering everyone?

I think there's been quite a bit of discussion about Bondy over the last year or so. If you're interested enough agin you could type his name in the search function and see what shows up.

Bondy used to be my favourite player and one of my favourite Richmond moments was being on the grass at Punt Road the day his winning best and fairest votes were called out. He told me, with tears of happiness in his eyes, that it was the best thing that had ever happened to him.

Apparently he was on the very short list for the Saints coaching role. I don't know enough about any potential coaches but if Bondy was as hard and determiend coaching as he was as a player I reckon we'd be in good hands.

Thanks Phantom.

At least I'm not the only one considering him........but why is he so "off the radar" with the press and most other people.
Has he ruled himself out?
Is he no longer interested in coaching?

A VFL premiership in his second year is a hell of a lot better credentials than Cambo has.

Chris Bond was one of those hardworking footballers who although not naturally gifted made every opportunity a real winner. It is a mindset like that that can make him a very good coach. He never gave up and in his time at Punto Road gave 100% all of the time. He was popular with all because he showed true spirit. He did everything that others didnt and our lack of success during his time cannot be put down to his lack of effort. He is small but damn he walked tall and really let his football do the talking.

He should be leaps and bounds ahead of Campbell in any consideration. I would have him as orange boy before campbell. Campbell would run the flanks before he found you. Bond would run staright to you! Hard and staright!

The one knock against Bondy is that he stepped away from coaching, so one would or could assume that he doesn't have the burning ambition to be a senior coach. Other than that, I think Bondy would make a great coach.

Craig Lambert is an "assistant for life". Has no ambition to be a senior coach.

Probably seen more now as a footy administrator rather than as a coach.

Just the way his post-playing career has unfolded. And he's made those decisions.

Yep, which is why I like the suggestion someone made that he be approached to be the List Mgr.
