Chris Newman - Needs a big 2005

Re: Chris Newman (Merged)

I look forward to Newy and Jake providing so much of the leadership and skill we have missed this season in 2015.

Seriously, how can you blame the player? Selection has nothing to do with him.

Unless they put their hand up as Dimma keeps saying every week. First priority is for the player to simply tell the coach "don't pick me, I'll stay in the 2nds to mentor the kids so let (player) in this week" or "I'm finishing up".

Re: Chris Newman (Merged)

If nothing else Newman's selection, and others like him, is simply shortsighted.
Nothing to gain and much to lose with such ongoing selection mysteries.

Re: Chris Newman (Merged)

You really have to wonder how on the ball our match committee are. Dan Daly said "it is good to have Newy back ..... being the contested ball player that he is"

Newy is in with 30 contested possessions in 8 games so far this season, while Jackson is out with 82 contested possessions in 8 games this season. :rofl

Re: Chris Newman (Merged)

The club is a laughing stock.

Dimma and co are enablers.

Enabling mediocrity at every turn.

I'm sure Jackson would be picked every week if fit.

Newman made us look better on his last return.

This is the best balanced side we've put out all year. Looking forward to it!

Selfish prick.

Not at all. If he's selected and fit he should play. It's not the players' call. Can't have the tail wagging the dog.

Re: Chris Newman (Merged)

I get the "it's not his fault blame the selectors", but instead of putting your hand up to say "Yep I can play", how about "I'm done"?

Re: Chris Newman (Merged)

I wonder, considering our poor direction, if they want Chris out there for his experience as much as anything else. A leader and a wise head.

Newman and Matty White were right into showing the crowd they played for the jumper a few years back. I see matty's already doing the same thing with his beloved port jumper last weekend.

I wouldn't put too much into that Giallo.

Carl Peterson did the same thing when he was at the Hawks.

Good on him. I'd expect no less of Matty than to show pride in his new colours. He's a player who gives his all for his team.

Grabbing of one's jumper is the biggest cliche currently in footy.

Used to happen a lot at with our players a couple of years ago and you liked it then. I hardly notice it any more. It seems more an exception than a rule. How common is it now?

Now they just grab their shorts as they gasp for air.

actually we do have the spoon to gain :hihi

Re: Chris Newman (Merged)

Must be a question mark over his head to see if he plays out a full game ?.
