Re: Chris Newman (Merged)

So Foley based on the above is a big chance to be our oldest player next year.

Re: Chris Newman (Merged)

Id try to keep Big O, Kingy and Newy around at VFL level for another year, or Newy into another role..

finished playing AFL IMO but good ppl like Chris, well, you can never have enough of at your club

That would be my preference. With the retirements of other veterans elsewhere the pressure on Chris to do the same must be mounting.

Probably happy, proud and relieved that our players are made of stronger stuff.

Doubt it will make much difference, Fletcher, Harvey & Murphy are all playing on

the 'stronger stuff' you're referring to is manure reinforced with egotism and selfishness

Hopefully taking note on how to depart with class & unselfishness. All of the guys that have retired have been had been having better years than Newman.

The club needs to be firm and sit him down and tell him the truth. You can't have guys who is 32 in your 18-22 player range every week. Those spots are development roles. And every game Newman plays, it takes away from a youngster *cough Matt Mcdonaugh* being closer to being a top 12 player.

It's madness.

Well said Scoop, but we're gonna front up every week and try to win. We'll go into the summer break with huge momentum, these blokes will be flying.

This year was an aberration. Just wait, we'll entice a glittering free agent with our war chest. Don't worry, we won't use our first round pick but everything else are chips on the table.

We just need guys like Newman, Thomas, Petterd, Grigg and Kingy in the side for cool heads and leadership.

We'll turn over the under performing assistant coaches and replace them with more rookies for Dimma to learn from. All good mate.

Is that you Dimma?

But seriously, the notion that we can't front up and try and win while still getting games into youngsters is pure folly.

(and I know you aren't pushing that angle Cartman)

I can't wait (with a mixture of dread and bemusement) for this 'war chest' to be spent, and for PRE and Richmond supporters in general to be so let down.

Correct Scoop..

We should still trying to win, anything less is not professional (sportsmen and/or organization)!

Absolutely agree by developing the likes of McD, Lennon and a few others over Newy/King/Morris etc we will not be doing the Current side a dis service, if anything its an upgrade with added development potential!!
