I can't wait (with a mixture of dread and bemusement) for this 'war chest' to be spent, and for PRE and Richmond supporters in general to be so let down.

Is that you Dimma?

But seriously, the notion that we can't front up and try and win while still getting games into youngsters is pure folly.

(and I know you aren't pushing that angle Cartman)

I think it has been important that the team get some confidence back into the side before bringing in too many inexperienced kids.
Things were going off the rails and belief was shaken. The win against Port was important in particular. You could see it meant a lot to the club.
Think we might see a bit more experimentation after the bye.

Re: Chris Newman (Merged)

With Brent Harvey going on in 2015 it got me to thinking how he's going compared to Chris:

Hope so, but we've still got at least one untouchable, at least until he reaches his milestone.

And Robert Murphy:

Murphy is a much better comparision. You can see why Bob got his new contract, I can't see why Newy should get a new one though.

Seriously if the club is placing importance on a personal milestone of 250 games as the main reason for playing Chris I would be filthy.
Who gives a flying stuff?
Lenny Hayes just fell short of 300 games and what he said in his presser was so true. That's not why you play football.

It seems to be that they are, though, ToO. I don't know why. Maybe privately he's said that the 250 will be it for him, maybe they think they can really fire the players up for the game. Campbell pulled the pin a few short of his 300 as well. On the face of it the club seem to be making some very odd decisions this year.

I am a bit of a fan of Chris', but there is no comparison between the two as far as impact on the field goes.

Hope he gets to his milestone and retires with style *this year*.

No killer instinct coming out of punt road.

This off season will be extremely interesting.

Hope it's not as conservative and meek as what we've seen this year.

Agree, there needs to be fallout. Not necessarily sack the coach fallout, which isn't going to happen anyway. But there needs to be accountability for the disaster.

Me too, Carts. I didn't begrudge Newman the final last year, but I do think that sentiment played a big part in selecting him for that game. I don't believe he was 100% fit.

Re: Chris Newman (Merged)

finally some media speculation about newman. its staggers me how he has managed to fly under the radar all these years. statistically speaking, he has had 5 consecutive years of reduced output. you've been selfish for years, time to do the right thing now chris...

Re: Chris Newman (Merged)

Newman has had a great career but he's done & so is King.Surely Hardwick is not seriously considering giving either another year.

It sounds like Jake might be gone, but I can see Newman getting another year.
