Anyone wanting their Jesus songs mix tape may want to check this out - and yes Evo, they do have one for Plastic Jesus

Yeah, there's some great songs on there. 'Jesus built my hotrod' is one of my favourite all-time songs. The Vaselines one is a gem too.

They should've included this.

I've never been clear on the Easter thing.

I am sinful and bad along with everyone else so the only good person with superpowers got nailed to a wooden cross a long long time ago so me and the rest were now better people and a rabbit walks around on it's hind quarters carrying chocolate balls shaped like eggs.

OK then.

???

Check out John Saffran's work.

Taking one for the team. :hihi

I enjoyed the John Saffran vs God series but if that nailing is genuine he's certainly outdone himself in the eccentricity stakes this time. Weird. Does anyone know what the new series is called?

Gee, looks like some possibly interesting programmes on the box this easter on the History channel.

Really looking forward to the main event “God vs Satan - the Final Battle” a no holds barred cage match, the loser has to leave town for ever (though expect loser to come back with false beard, cape and ready made cult following).

Actually i'm looking forward to the "pagan christ" which is on 7:30-8:30 tonight. Might and hopefully will be interesting viewing.

I've been reading a bit about Buddhism recently and finding it very interesting. Of particular interest are the many comparisons b/w christianity and Buddhism. This leads me to my main point. There are some theorists who have speculated about Jesus' 'missing years.' Where did he get to and what did he do?

The reason I ask this is because a lot of what he had to say (or at least a lot of what was recorded) was said in pretty much similar language centuries earlier by the Buddha.

So where was Jesus and what was he doing? Did he study the Buddha? Did he go to India as some have suggested?

The Gospel of Thomas is even stronger evidence that he rubbed shoulders with Buddhists.

Maybe why it was left out.

he didn't need to go all the way to India. i think that Buddhism had stretched into the Middle East by then, maybe into Asia Minor too.

Agreed.

The Bible is an eclectic mix of Zoarastianism, Hinduism,Buddhism, Greek and Roman philosophy combined with Middle Eastern Sun worship;just to name a few.

Probably the only thing we can be sure of that didn't influence the text, was God. ;D

I guess that there are some common themes that aren't coincedences, Evo. But in this case the Buddha isn't a god, so if he influenced Christianity it would show that man has tinkered with what some christians say is the inspired words of god.
