There will be quite a few that won't take kindly to this thread, but i'll have a go anyway.Maybe this was the year we had to have to eventually go forward.

*At the moment we have no ruckman(with simmonds out) and a midfield that keeps getting smashed out of the middle. As has been noted on other threads if we get 1st pick in the psd will obviciously help us get a Charman, Wood or a Meeson etc. To back Simmo up and draught another one as well.

*Cogs and brownny will be like 2 new recruits. We desperately need another extracter in the middle, Foley can't do it by himself.Brownie should just take all year to get his body right for next year.

*Hughes,Mcguane have come on, they both need to finish the season off in the ones and build their bodies up next year.

*Thirsty needs to take his time this year, get his body right and his confidence up for next year.

*At years end fiinsh the purging off. Krack, tivvers, hyde, hall, knobel, should all be gone.

*Johhno, maybe one more year then retire. Delidio to be captain.

With the no.1 pick and some more early picks we should be able to start buidng from the ground up.

Not sure this is the season we had to have in regard to ruckmen.  We've struggled a bit for depth and didn't really address the problem to prevent the situation we're now in.

I'd think Lids has a lot of water to run under his bridge before he's elected captain.  Not sure he needs the extra burden in the near future.

Although I think Cogs and Browny will be like new recruits too, and said as much this season, the truth is that could be as much wishful thinking as reality. We just don't know how they'll recover at this stage.

The only thing I don't take to in your post Richards is talk of the #1 draft pick.  The thought of us going so far backwards makes me want to fair dinkum  :vomit

This season is a write off already and demonstrates only that as we discard older players with no future that we are increasingly losing the balance needed between older and younger players.

Also a depressing lack of development/talent? in the younger players.

Matt Krueznerrrrrr, good write up in today's hearld sun.

Carlton still need to win 3 more games this season before we are eligible for the first pick!

Yeah i know LM, but thye've won 2 out of 7, you would think that they would win another 3 out of 15

If we lie down now (13 May) we may as well pack up the gig bag and head for the hills. Not even Fitzroy gave up that quick...

We don't have to give up, i am more an optimist than a realist but id have to say that ATM we are not good enough to win games so it aint about giving up we all want to win but reality is the team is struggling and i really can't see us winning a heap of games, we'll win a few and get to sing the song but we have to start planning for next year, it kills me to say that but zip and 8, only a miracle against the crows at AAMI will stop that from happening. Giving our younger guys more game time and also getting more high draft picks will set us up.

Not sure Cogs and Brown will ever be like quality new recruits. I'd be happy if either of hem just played again.

You must have a different Crystal Ball to the one used by the prophets -

They tell me that the next Tiger Premiership will come from the same way Fitzroy and South Melbourne broke their droughts.

Looks like a failing Tiger team until we get shifted interstate by the AFL.

The AFL could not care less about the current Tiger supporter base in Melbourne - for the AFL it is all about the almighty $$$ and if the Tigers can't perform (like they have proven over the past quarter of a century) then they will have to find a better way to make money out of them - shift them interstate - Tasmanian Tigers - Northern Territory Tigers (sponsored by the Asian brewer Tiger Beer) - The Western Sydney Tigers - The Glenelg Tigers - the Claremont Tigers.

Punt Road oval redeveloped into palatial units to fund the move.

Premiership in the year 2020.

Oh we're from Tigerland - a distant land from where we started from - but we're from Tigerland a fighting fury.............

That's a provocative post and you may be right. Hypothetically speaking the Tassie Tigers would be the best move if it had to happen. Alas Hawthorn - who I despise - have got in first. I'd suggest that the only way to prevent such a drastic move will be to win and win often. That is how you earn credibility in football.

I think RT is looking for a shift to Canberra for his beloved Tigers.

I didn't think of that jb - but now ya mention it!

Truth is there are many other places in Australia where the AFL will place a team prior to Canberra - Western Suburbs of Sydney - Gold Coast - Darwin - Tasmania. Where ever they think there is a big $$$$$$

The AFL just brokered a 750 Million media dollar deal, don't tell me there is not enough money for 10 clubs to survive and prosper in Melbourne.

Lets just keep the salary cap where it is, if the players aren't happy to be averaging just under $200K pa slaries, then let them take up golf. How maany of our players have earnt there salary this year??

There is plenty of pie to go around if the players stop asking for such huge slices.

you may have misunderstood me a little rosy, not saying we had to have a bad year with ruckman, only that its so obvious that this is a glowing problem area and by finishing bottom we will have the tools to do something about it. Imagine picking up a charman or wood in the psd, then picking up another good kid in main draft. If we finished mid table like we all expected, we wouldn't be able to fix a problem area as quick
