PUNT ROAD END | Richmond Tigers Forum

When I started to going back to RFC games in 1995, AFTER A LONG BREAK FOR TEENAGE YEARS, GETTING MARRIED ETC, a great tradition was to watch the Reserves prior to the Ones, sometimes at the G, but usually over at Punt Road, A few of us would get up in the Social Club and watch the "Kids" out the window. This was a tradition that lasted until RFC reserves became the Burgers.

That is where I first saw Andy Kellaway who was then on the Supplementry list.

I don't know whether it was the Kellaway name or what, but Chubba became a favourite of ours and we hoped that he pould one day become a senior player. When he was drafted by the Tiges we were rapt.

I have made special trips to watch Chubba play his First Senior Game, and many of his Highlight Games, 50. 100.
I remember him and his Marking in defense. That is why I am so pleased to see him granted Life Membership at the Tiges.

There is no way that Chubba could ever be called a Highly Skilled Player, however what he has brought to RFC is a bit of that Old Fashioned Mental Toughness and Desire to play for the Club.

We often talk about the Tigers of Old, an over-rated cliche perhaps but certainly a term that should apply to Andy Kellaway.
