PUNT ROAD END | Richmond Tigers Forum

Leigh Mathews had identified that his side wasn't doing enough gut running at training so he introduced a new training session about 6 weeks ago.

CIRCLE WORK! :o :rofl

It's lifted the movement and work rate of his players by up to 40% apparently. The gut running his players are getting out of 40 to 60 minute circle work session has turned his side around. He punishes his players for turnovers during the session via sprints and then re starts the session. It's separated into clockwise and anti clockwise 10 to 15 minute quarters. Players are not allowed to stop under any circumstances.

Of course they still do other sessions along with the circle work.

This is 100% fact, but it's very interesting when you consider our current situation.

1) We don't seem to be able to run out games.

2) We have no options or movement up the ground.

3) We struggle to hit targets late in games due to lack of fitness.

Could it be this simple??
