read yesterday in the herald sun that trent did a bit of running in the sand
at the start of pre-season and thats when his injury began. ill give everyone
including the staff at RFC a great tip.

'DO NOT RUN IN THE SAND IF YOU HAVE ANY TENDON ISSUES IN YOUR LOWER
BODY'

running in the sand is about the worst thing you can do if you have a history
of suffering from patelar or achillies tendonitis.

end rant >:D >:D >:D >:D >:D >:D >:D >:D >:D >:D >:D >:D >:D >:D >:D >:D

You'd think with paid professionals on staff someone might have thought to tell him before now.
Especially as he had the same injury on the other leg last year ???

He had no sign of the injury when the 1-3 year players had that training camp in Nov despite training throughout Sep and Oct. I am sure he ran on sand numerous times last year.

from my understanding of the article, it appeared as though the sun are referring to a session
conducted by the club. i know 4 boys did do extra stuff pre pre-season. if it was extra stuff done
away from the club well then theres not much the club could do but the article seemed to indicate
the former

Yes he did. However he played 14 odd games of footy between then and when the 1-3 year players had the training camp at the beach in Nov 2008. He also trained for two month between the end of the season and this camp with no sign of the achillies problem.

I dunno ftt. I'd like to think the club are managing every aspect of a players health & fitness.

Still a reasonably valid point FTT makes about sand work. People sometimes think because it is the other side of the body this time it has no connection. It has every connection, because you favour a side to give relief, even subconciously, thus putting added strain of the side taking up the slack.

For example, i know of many instances at footy clubs when a knee is being recovered from, that when full scale trainng picks up tendons and ligaments in the other leg can easily become strained, stretched or otherwise aggravated.

Though I must say, for a a 19 year old, I still wouldn't be overly concerned yet.

seriously, 50 points down, blokes got a sore hammy and medicos say he is right to go back on
my god, can they stuff it up any more
