I'm just wondering which clubs will possibly be looking for new coaches next season.

Tiges and Roos are certainties.

Port looking highly likely at this stage but not official

Pies have to re-sign or replace Mick.

I think Freo might be on the look out too, not sure. Others?

Also we had trouble attracting a coach when we got Danny. Was that also a year where several clubs came out of contract, and if so can anyone remember if any prospective coaches knocked us back and went to another club?

Another question sorry (dodgy memory) Who else, if anyone were the club seriously considering when we signed Terry? I know a couple had a lot of support on here but can't remember if they got to the interview stage at the club.

Can't remember who they were serious considering, but up for grabs was Clarko, Eade, Craig, Wallarse, I think Longmire at the time, O'Donnell, Lambert, no doubt there would of been a few more.

Rodney Eade, Terry Wallace and Garry Lyons were the 3 main candidates at the time. Would Lyon have been worse than Wallace???

The paddle pop Lyon wasn't serious was he? He'a Richmond hater!

No he wasn't, he had one toe in the water and one foot on dry land and was too scared to jump in. Lyon's always given me the impression he wanted to coach but was too scared to leave a cushy job in the media for possible failure/hurting his rep ala Watson.

We did seriously sound him out and he was tempted but then backed out of the "process".

Correct, I think it was the media beat up that made him squirm & smile in front of the camera, the *smiler* had no real intention going for it anyway.

Maybe it was Clinton Casey's deep voice and the way he used to pucker his lips when he got serious that turned him off.......................I don't know. ;D

When Frawley was appointed, from memory Thompson went to Geelong, Judge to West Coast, Schwab to Hawthorn, Ayres to Adelaide(??), Malthouse to Collingwood and perhaps one other...Sheedy was probably also out of contract I don't know whether we seriously considered any of these for our job, but I believe we were the last club to announce the new coach...

We definitely looked at Thompson and he definitely turned us down because of our rep.

Spot on Ian. Definitly my recollection.

It's why I was always so adamant about allowing Wallace to say on to year end/Letting him walk of his own accord rather than specifically asking him to leave.

Yup.

Harvey is another one who has declined a interview at RFC.

Roo's was offered an interview but declined as he wanted to go overseas to the states and study coaching/sporting management before taking a coaching appointment.
