Coburg as a coaching tool

I think Whitey needs a few games at BP to show us what he can do. He's got the right attributes and work ethic to play that role. If people think his kicking is suspect then he can be given orders to not kick it but instead handball off to McGuane, King & Rance.

I don't think many are safe atm.

Cousins & Cotchin are soon to come back in. Both are better options around the ball than Matt.

I like Matt's determination as a player but he defo has his limitations even if he has improved aspects of his game.

I'd still like to see him tried in a back pocket but Wallet doesn't seem to want to try that for some reason. Perhaps due to his disposal.

If he's to become a mid he'll need to go up another cog again or he'll be upgraded soon enough.
IMO we really do need more quality than Matt on ball if we are to become a good side.

I agree he still has a fair way to go. Untimately he might not have the polish to command a full time spot in the midfield but at the moment there aren't many chasing his spot.

Cotchin and Cousins are obvious inclusions to our midfield rotation but as we know you need at least 8 blokes to make yourselves competitive.

So if you have Cousins and Cotchin. Who else do you have? I rate Deledio, Foley and Tuck at this point. Perhaps Cogs, Tambling, Polo, Hislop, Edwards and Collins can step up.

They all need develop some real form before they can overtake White.

Richmond's Brown likely to miss matches
Richmond coach Terry Wallace says forward Nathan Brown will probably miss two AFL matches with a slight groin tear.

Wallace has confirmed that the injury has been the reason for Brown's poor form in the last fortnight and it has come to the point where the Tigers cannot keep him on the field.

Why play anyone if they are injured to the point of not being able to perform at an acceptable standard?  What message does that send the kids?  It just reinforces my opinion that selection is often made on who you are rather than what you actually do.

I think you could go even further than that Rosy and say that if Brown has been playing injured for two weeks it is an absolute disgrace that he has been selected because of a. the message it sends to the kids/other players and b. for his own health and well being.

Very poor once again RFC.

many players play with injury every week. one can only assume the coaching staff thought he would be still able to perform at an acceptable level so they kept playing him. its been shown he can't so they are resting/dropping him. i think you'll find it happens at all clubs at some point.
perhaps they were trying to send a message to the kids that the afl is a tough game and you have to play under duress.
as always many here think they know best when they know little.

Matty is a very self-motivated kid and I'm sure he will go out of his way to make amends this week. He's been sent back to Coburg several times and each time has been in the best players, really working on his game, and has been great when elevated again. I'm sure the coach could give him a pep talk in regard to what's required and keep him in and Matty would reward the faith.

Onya Matty. great game. I rest my case. ;D
