Coburg Rookie 09

I probably wouldnt take any of Horne, Carnell or Caruso. IMO they are all too small and scrappy without any real stand out qualaties.

There is no real stand out, John Morris looked good but only played about 2 games. Someone like Matt Davis trained with the Richmond a bit but he didnt even play seniors in VFL only reserves.

Agree and this is why I have a real issue with automatically doing a "coburg pick" each year. Last year and this year a pick should not have been made.

I would look at Morgan missed most of this year with a broken leg but would have been ahead of Sylvester until the break. Shows KPP potential. Will get a full pre season and be under the radar

My point exactly.

An athletic freak such as Sibosado at 192 -93 cm would be a much better rookie option should he not be drafted (i think he will be anyway) as opposed to any of the Coburg guys mentioned and Checkerboard hit the nail on the head.

Carnell should of got a chance last yr instead of Howat, theres no one worthy enough this yr imo

Seen Caruso 1 or 2 times this year.. decent crumbing forward.
Yeah, but Nat is usually more important to the Burgs than Fort.

I like them both but it's really speculative to suggest either are AFL standard. As an example, Krak, in his time with the Burgs, killed Fort as an opportunistic small forward.

It has to be doubtfull we will take a Coburg kid this year. There isnt really anyone you would really want. Maybe someone like Matt Davis is a chance. He didnt even play seniors all year but he trained with Richmond a fair bit i believe.

Craig, people like Mitchell, Taylor, McGlynn and poss Sewell (may have been rookied) worked pretty well from another club targeting a player each year from their VFL team

rookie pick from coburg

hopefuly this year richmond decides to pick the best rookies for the club not leaving a spot for a coburg player.

if a coburg player is good enough then put him on the list but this year in paticular we need to put not only the best rookies on our list but rookies who may help out our list deficiencies.

e.g. coburg may only have 2 177cm players suitable to rookie but we may be able to rookie two potential ruckmen and a project kpp. with one spot already taken by an existing rookie.

what do we do commit to the coburg arrangement or go for needs based players?

Disagree. Just because we had a good run with injury down back doesn't mean taking Silvestor as a bit of depth was a bad idea.

With Jake King clogging up a list spot, that's enough recognition Coburg needs......

I do like Fort Caruso, Carnell and Horne but if their is better at rookie list level, thats enough for me.
