PUNT ROAD END | Richmond Tigers Forum

There's no surprise about Mark being one of my favourite Tigers. He epitomises what I think a Tiger should be. Tough, hard working, committed etc. He's battled through injury and gone through far more than most of us could begin to imagine to get back out there playing for us and repaying the faith he feels we showed by drafting him.

As a previous B&F winner I reckon he's being shafted by those in charge at the moment...same as Joel was. Same as Knighter. Same as Gas. Same as AndyK...the list goes on. We are the masters of alienating our best players when they should be treated with respect.

I am dumbfounded by Jade Rawlings can saying the team is selected on form and going crook about our players not doing enough for Cousins' milestone when he neither rewarded good form nor selected a team with the best chance to do Ben proud.

The quote below is from EOTT the week before last. (the most recent report hasn't been added yet.) How Cogs hasn't been selected given that report, and following a 46 possession game the week before and regularly being in the best, is beyond me. It made me furious to read Jade having a crack about our players not doing enough when a player like Mark, who is tough as any Tiger we've ever had and goes where most fear to tread, is languishing at Coburg for such an extended period.

Mark Coughlan
Didn’t produce his high numbers possession-wise of recent weeks, but he certainly impacted the game. Finished with 24 possessions, including seven inside-50 entries, which was a team high. Was a solid contributor throughout.

I don't know what's going on with Mark, I think he's out of contract this year but not 100%, but I'll be furious if we let him go without rewarding his efforts with a chance in the seniors.

I hope we re-sign him soon. If we don't I hope another club drafts him and it hurts us heaps.

I am very disappointed that Mark hasn't been given the chance to team up with Joel and stick it up the Pies for one last time together. He's earnt it. :'(
