Cogs contract

too early to write him off and just have a look at how we been travelling without him.

Sorry I missed you last week CMT. :)

Unfortunately for Cogs you can count the players that have successfully come back from two knee recos on one hand.

Cogs will get two years.

He will have a full twelve months to recover by the time the 08 season rolls along. His output will, in all likelihood, be reduced next year but in 09 he should be at the top of his game again, all things working out. At his age, if his luck changes, he will have several seasons left in him. Michael Wilson is a very good example of a similar strong midfield type who had the two knee injuries at around a similar age, took a couple of years to get right and eventually came back to play good footy for an extended period.

It will not be fair to judge him on what he does in 08. More injuries during 08 or 09 though, and hard decisions will need to be made. He has earnt two years. I doubt that his money will be huge during this period but he will be paid a fair bit more than a standard contract.

If nothing else, he offers hardness and leadership on the field, something in short supply.

I tell you what TOT, if Miller decides to leave, you have my vote to move into his position. You could not have justified Cog's future contract any other way.

Cogs was on one of the footy shows last weekend and stated that he and the club had agreed they would sit down at the end of the year and work out what was best for both the club and himself.
Two knees is going to be tough for him and as stated who would gamble on him, love Cogs and the way he plays but gee how does Cogs, Krak and a first round pick for Judd sound.

One year deal with a guaranteed second year if he plays say 18 games?

If a one year performance contract can be achieved I think that would be great for both parties.

If you were MC's manager, you'd reckon MC had done okay with that deal, CC?

Suppose I'm MC's manager- we walk (okay, hobble). No deal. You broke his knee, RFC. Get loved, we're outta here. Don't worry skank, we've got mates. Shove it. And we're squealing to the papers.

It's not an easy issue. Some might make it emotional. I would.

My angle Jack was more that MC could prove what he has to offer next year on a one year performance based,an then be able to get a less performance based contract an probally another 2 year deal after that.

An we could have a good look at him an reward him fittingly

I'm not sure about what we should offer CC. But I reckon Cogs can get a better deal than that elsewhere. I don't think he owes the club anything beause of the knees- maybe the other way around.

If he were my client, I'd look around if he got a one year offer. But OTOH I don't reckon Richmond should offer him any more.
