A fans favourite but will he be on the list in '08?

Tough decision.

Why wouldn't he be? 09 that is. I don't think the Tigers would have gone to all the trouble to send him to Germany in the second half of the year if they weren't serious about keeping him for 09. Add to that he's played honestly in his few games at Coburg its hard to see any reason he wouldnt be on the list next year. Of course unless Coughlan doesn't want to continue on but if that was the case he would have got a farewell game in the 1s :o

Is he still a best 22 player?

Yep without doubt a fit Cogs would be in our best 22, in fact in our best dozen. He's been eased back into things at Coburg, 35 or so possies last game, and is improving each week. Nobody knows what cards the injury Gods are going to deal out but with some good luck, and a full pre-season, Mark will be our most valuable recruit next season. An inspirational leader on the field. I can't wait to see him run out in the yellow and black again.

Up till this year Scotty West has been one of the best going around and been a real weapon for his outside team mates.....Cogs is no slower then West an has the same ball winning instincts.....touch of good luck an he will be very handy

Thanks Rosy - only listen to you when it comes to Cogs...

I can't wait to see him play round 1 next year

Has been getting 30+ touches for several weeks now.

35 last week

28 the week before by halfway through the last quarter (thanks to Luke n' Cogs ;D :clap)

Plus more big numbers.

I can't wait to see Cogs and Tuck stealing clearances off each other.

Then Foley is a clearance machine too!

And with Cotchin, Deledio, Tambling all fitter and stronger our midfield will be stronger than ever as well as balanced.

Some mail about that he was under serious scrutiny recently but has responded well the past couple of weeks.
Mentioned in the Rawlings Report that Cogs actually picked up 40 touches last weekend.
That's gotta be some good news leading into next season. :)

Rawlings said he “Was very clean with his ball-handling", so he must have picked up those extra possessions in the shower.

I wouldn't have thought the club would be talking Cogs up with an article if they were planning to delist him.

Mate, with his sense of balance anywhere near wet tiles, i'm surprised the club even allows him a shower anymore - ah, maybe that's why he gets out on his own a little more these days........

Thanks TBH for the congrats by the way :)

I'm excited to see Cogs in action for Coburg in the VFL finals, I like many others desperately hope that he can get back to the football that he was producing before his injuries. For his sake and for the Tiger faithful's sake.

With a solid VFL finals series and an injury free pre season Cogs will be back in '09. He's never been all that quick and the fact that we can now surround him with pace will help.

i love big bodied players like coughlan even though his kicking drives me insane at times. i really hope he can go on to play some decent footy for us but i have to be honest hes missed so much footy i just cant see it.heres hoping.

For those that don't get to see Coburg, my take on Cogs in recent times is that he's starting to play in a very similar fashion to pre-knee. i.e. not flashy, but getting plenty of ball, particularly those first possession, bottom of the pack touches that he made his name on.
I would say, with a full, injury free, pre-season he still has a fair bit to offer.
Fingers crossed.
