Collingwood buy house for players

Having a house specialy for players would have nothing to do with certain types of players being better off for their footy careers imo.
If its not enough that young boys are given an opportunity in the big time just by the mere fact of being drafted and on a clubs list then no special house is going to mean squat wether they make it or not.

Can we have some music please? Thank you..... and now all together let's sing:-

"There is a house in Williamstown
It's for the Rising Scum
It's been the ruin of many a Pie Boy
Thank God that I'm not one"
:clap

well as a williamstown supporter i'm very happy to hear this. you know about 10 years ago the old VFA tried to get the seagulls to merge with werribee when they were broke and went thru the season winless. they went on to win the flag in 2003. i'd hate to say it but the collingwood alignment has been a huge success. collingwood have looked after them well...

Why dont the players just vacant Eddie McCollingwoods $1 million mansion ?

They could always get their parole officer to babysit them . :cutelaugh

But, considering our poor off field track record it is no wonder we cant afford to take advantage of oppurtunities similar to this, even if we do have people who recognise these type of oppurtunities.
Perhaps we at PRE should expand on the success of the "buy a rookie fund" and get the ball rolling for a "Get a Mansion fund".

Collingwood run a magnificent off field operation. The biggest problem is they haven't got many footballers.

Almost a coach for every player. Money can't buy premierships!!!!

No but it gets you a lot closer, and gives you a better chance. See:

Adelaide
Essendon
WC Eagles
Brisbane

We need to get more financially competitive, if we are to get fair dimkum.

I doubt the purchase of a house has anything to do with the salary cap. It is an asset for the SWFC and so is not part of the TPP. No matter who lives there it is not part of any TPP from what I can tell.

What if the occupants are not charged, or charged a less-than-market rent? I'd say that would be worth investigating.

I'm not sure that this is such a new and revolutionary move by Collingwood (though it is a good one). I know that they used to own quite a few houses around Vic Park which players may have used. They are probably just transplanting that idea into Williamstown.

all a grand plan to limit supporters' interaction by isolating players from traditional grass roots. Collingwood supporters now need to become upmarket (living in williamstown or gym at Lex centre). "Eddie, this will never work", once a scumbag always a scumbag.

Add to that Crystal who can wear the nurses outfit..... ;D :smiledevil

Get a mansion, fill it with footballers, bring in the CC TV and sell the reality program to one of the networks - footy content for the fans and beefcake for the teenage girls.

How much did Ten pay for the rights to BB? It would bring in millions to the RFC.

A nother well off club has had 2 houses for some years , with a live in keeper . And the A F L had a look into this as part of the salery cap . IF they did not pay rent and the keepers wages , it was a extra the club was giving them on top of their salery from the club . And the tax man also had a look at them for not declaring the freebes in their tax return . This happed a few years ago , and the club had to admit a breach of salery cap , befor they would get find for it . Pluss the keepers would not stay long at the house , for they got sick of all the younge girls hanging around out the front all night .
