I am really pleased that Wallace has deliberately held back blokes like Connors, and made him earn his spot.
They know he has the talent - they did draft him after all - but they needed to educate him about being a professional footballer before he was promoted.
In two years, Johnson, Bowden, Brown etc will be gone - and at that point we need a reprogrammed Connors to be able to stay in the side and consistently produce, rather than keep getting dropped becase he was played on talent early on but keeps failing on other aspects of his preparation.
It's the same for Collard. Everyone knows he has talent to burn, but his attitude is well short on what's required at senior level.
Hopefully the penny drops with Collard next year - because he is still a long way short of what's required.
Further example is Collins. Not saying he lacks professionalism, but extra time honing his skills in the Burgers will stand him in good stead when we need him to be playing in the seniors regularly from 2010 onwards.
Seriously, if you believe all the spin from the anti-Wallace haters, you would believe Wallace is deliberately trying to hobble the side from its rightful long term development.
I am pleased that, in the case of certain promising yound players, Wallace is focused on the long term.
