Connors is a monty to play forward in 2008. He has the much-vaunted "x" factor with his tricks and marking. He will play a Steve Johnson role for us. I don't think is tank is big enough to allow him to play midfield or even as a running half back. I think his skills would be wasted in defence.

Alot of players competing for or capable of playing a forward pocket or flank if that's the case.

Tambling, Morton, Pettifer, Brown, Connors, Edwards, Lids, maybe Meyer and Hartigan and Krak as well ;D

Maybe you can shed some light on whether there is likely to be another option in Cotchin as well :spin

Definitely not Cotchin. Morton or Kreuzer

We got Mitch Morton for this role.

Did anyone see Connors was at the draft camp talking to the draftee's about being drafted and first year of football, Tyson Goldsack was also there.

lets face it
Kruzer is #1 we wont get him
morton & cotchin are 2 & 3 but do we need any more small fwds or flankers
why not take the best KPP fwd or back with # 2 and bite the bullit?

I've watched Connors a few times at Coburg and can't wait for this kid to get the necessary mileage into his body.
He's got plenty of talent, needs to grow an AFL standard motor and has a genuine nasty streak ( just needs to keep it nice and tidy) to him.

I didn't mean to sound harsh TM, its just that I have seen way too much dillusional crystal balling in these forums the past 18 months about guys who are held in high regard compared to players they are not even in the same class of.

The VFL is full of guys with "potential" and "VFL form week in and week out", I have seen Brad Miller and Will Minson take teams apart this year yet struggle to make it in their own senior sides - the VFL is a poor breeding ground for development for so many reasons.

I hope Conners gets a big pre-season in otherwise we'll be talking of him in the same light as a few others at the club in their 2nd and 3rd seasons. The development path at Richmond under Wallace stinks, its not a good nursery for young cubs, anyone at the WB when Wallace was there will attest to this also.

Makes Foley's effort and work committment very admirable.

Dewy, this is not crystal balling. The kid can play and has special abilities. Remember Johnson last year was almost delisted and was offered at trade week but there were no takers. Hindsight is a wonderful thing! I only said he would play forward as that is where his abilities can be best used. He is a keeper and will get better and better over the next few years. I've seen enough footy to know I'm not mistaken in this case.

Connors looks like he could play anywhere, once he develops "body wise" and fitness base mate he will be a beauty is so versatile, fwd, back, midfield and oozes confidence!

Connors looked great in the AFL games he played. I dont think it's wishful thinking to think he's goingto turn into something very good. Has all the attributes required, the only potential issue apparently is attitude. But kids do mature.

Rance is a highly rated FB but i think we should take the best available player!

If you believe his Wikipedia entry he'll be tearing Judd a new one. :hihi

"He is seen as a future star of the game, combining the poise of Dal Santo, the aggression of Voss and the skills of Hodge. Daniel Connors could be anything. Daniel Connors has been touuted as the next Chris Judd who in time will become of the game's most elite players."

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Daniel_Connors

Few grammatical errors there.
Which school did Connors attend lol

Dan should have played a lot more senior footy than he did this year, he had a few discipline issues ( as some kids do ) that kept him in the Magoos.
He's got plenty of footy nous, skill and agression.
Just need to wait for him to get the necessary miles under the belt, he'll be worth it.
