Corey "the slow boat to GC17" Ellis

Re: Welcome to the RFC - Corey Ellis

Reckon most are been too hard on Corey at this point, there's no doubt he plays a different style to Miles but I certainly don't think his soft, as he continues to play more an more footy his confidence and responsibility will grow, allready starting too see it, his left boot is a weapon, vision seems very good, has time with the ball, defensively he seems to be doing his job ( stats?) , yes his light, yes he lacks a yard in pace however I think he has more then enough talent to be a very good player, not quite the match winning A grade talent we really need but a valuable member of the team . Crucial he builds a massive rank for his improvement

They are if a player kicks to himself, it's the main reason Heath Shaw racks up crazy numbers.

His kicking is fine when given space, no question. In the heat of a contest I'm yet to be convinced. Hope he turns it around but the vibe is another outside, one paced flanker/wingman.

That would be our 4th first round flanker in a row.

Other clubs seem to be finding genuine midfield stars in the first round. We find battling flankers.

First 3 kicks missed the target.

He missed a lot of targets on the night, 7. His kicking was often poor.

Cialis plays lighter than his advertised 75kg. He's physically insignificant. And on Muscle Beach last night he looked like a twelve year old. He used it poorly because he knows that if they can just lay a hand on him he'll be off balance or caught. He's panicking.

But we have to keep playing him. He's the future.

Re: Welcome to the RFC - Corey Ellis

I see the problem (on exposed form) is he's an outside flanker with no pace which makes him outdated/useless in todays free flowing face paced game. Oh and his much vaunted kicking is crap very Tivendale inconsistent like, good kicks don't miss targets and they don't kick floaters!

We have no future :(

2016 is apparently a good draft. We need draft choices. And somebody who can use them.

Re: Welcome to the RFC - Corey Ellis

Everyone is screaming 'play the kids.' This kid has played all season and is doing a reasonable job... but people still bag him. FFS.

Yeah it sucks. The guy has progressed well. Numbers are starting to increase. And I don't know what games people watch but his disposal by foot is excellent, maybe not so great yesterday but overall very composed. Still has a lot to learn, just let him learn.

Re: Welcome to the RFC - Corey Ellis

Totally agree, C. Ellis is not the problem at Tigerland. He is a young player in a team that is low in skill, pressure acts and confidence. Give the kid a break.

We're already without a 2nd rounder.

We'll have to let a free agent walk to get one back.

We have to trade Vickery. Because we have to target free agents, don't we, Draga? So it's a trade. We may get less draft currency but it frees us to throw money around. And then we have to trade further into the draft.

To return to Cialis he is not the problem. But he has a lot of growing to do. He could at least get a kick last night.

Re: Welcome to the RFC - Corey Ellis

Anyone got any details on the groin injury? Hope it doesn't hold him back for too long.

Re: Welcome to the RFC - Corey Ellis

Hopefully it's just a twinge and RFC is taking a cautious approach.
For a young player Ellis has done a power of work this season and maybe he just needs to be spelled a bit and managed for the remainder of the season.
Hopefully he gets back into the seniors in a couple of weeks or so.
If he's fit it would be great to get as many games into him as is possible before a big pre-season for 2017.

Re: Welcome to the RFC - Corey Ellis

Been listed 2-3 weeks on the injury for the last 6+ weeks! I hope he's not one of those players but he was even injured before being drafted. In his short time at Richmond, already had hip, foot and now groin problems.

"2-3 weeks" has become a Richmond curse.
