Corey "the slow boat to GC17" Ellis

Re: Welcome to the RFC - Corey Ellis

People are underselling Corey. Sure he has a good left peg but more than that he sees the right options and moves the ball smartly by hand and foot.

The problem he has is that he might be too fragile for the workload. He seems to suffer repetitive load injury (ie feet, groin etc)

He might grow out of it as his body conditions. He might not.

He is first and foremost a footballer though.

Re: Welcome to the RFC - Corey Ellis

Not sure about him when we drafted him and definately not sure of him now.

Re: Welcome to the RFC - Corey Ellis

I can see why some are starting to get a little fidgety about him.

Yes he looks a bit slow, yes he hasnt seemed to get the footy enough, yes he has looked a bit timid on occasion and his body as of now seems fragile..

These are concerns that will be either further heightened or disproved to a degree this season.

Conca, Lennon, B Ellis, C Ellis, seems there is more questions than answers on all of them at the moment and it is within this group of first rounders including Vlossy that the RFC is in need of the big strides to be taken to improve the side. Add the loss of Tyrone in the group of first rounders its a little unnerving.

There may well be a bust or three to come in this group maybe even two by seasons end! Lets hope that is not the case.

Question marks on Corey Ellis already and more so on Brandon. Brandon looked great early doors and has gone backwards.

Even bigger question marks on Reece and Ben.

Vlastuin has already shown he can play and his ability and strength over the journey but his best position is still not set.

This is the GWS GCS compromised draft generation.

Yeah that's me too. I'm not worried about ability to perform if he gets 10-15 games in a row but I am super worried about his body allowing him to play that many games in a row. There was glimpses of some serious zinger zone busting kicks last year. I'm now putting players into the Bulldogs mode, could he fit in with that style of play and flourish? I think so. That's enough for us.

If he's going to make a leap, it has to be this year.

Menadue has added 7 kgs in his time at the club whilst Corey is still the same weight 75kgs ( menadue is now 76kgs)
Menadue is fast and has a great tank, also looks like he doesnt mind getting his head knocked off during the process

Corey can kick the ball

Lever/Weller would have been nice

Looking at what we had drafted pre Ellis - Dusty, Conca, Ellis, Vlaustin.....Lever was the obvious choice.

Looking back now that is a really big miss even if Corey does come on, Lever will be a very good CHB for 10+ years.

Re: Welcome to the RFC - Corey Ellis

even garry junior wasn,t great in his first 5 years, games 100, av dis 15.17, reason his body wasn,t able to play on the ball yet.

Or that I don't pay attention ‍♂️

My New Year resolution is fading. Bright siding is more fun.

Yep, agree. Better for our mental health as well.

Re: Welcome to the RFC - Corey Ellis

In my opinion i don't think he makes it. He doesn't get enough of it... in fact he seems to struggle to get anywhere near it. too slow, too light... he will play his games each week and been ok.. but thats it. i think it was a huge reach. We seem to be hanging on to his one kick to lids as a reflection of his ability.... please...

Right now.. i wouldn't even have him on the bench. just a vanilla player to me..

Re: Welcome to the RFC - Corey Ellis

Just not sure exactly what his position is yet ? Not big enough to be contested midfielder, not quick enough to play outside.

Reckon about the same lambshanks. Corey's a footballer, just being held back a bit by his injury issues at the moment.
Smart players don't need masses of pace, they've done the job properly before the quick buggers realise they need to do some chasing. Kid gets through his feet n groin injury niggles ( and for mine they're purely the niggles of a kid growing into the body n work load required for AFL footy ) he'll be a serious player.

Re: Welcome to the RFC - Corey Ellis

More Xavier Ellis than Nicky Dal.......

Another classic FJ over-reach....

Yeh add him to the over-reach dud pile with Conca and Lennon.

Heppell, Cripps and Weller all went in the next 2 picks.

RFC the gift that keeps in giving!

Re: Welcome to the RFC - Corey Ellis

I'm pretty sure Celis wasn't an over there. Most had him there or thereabouts.
