Re: Welcome to the RFC - Corey Ellis

Weller would have been the player we should have taken, I was disappointed we took Cellis

Conca over Heppell was a massive blunder and everybody knew it at the time

Cripps was never in the picture but a few good players were there abouts ( my choice was Blake Acres at the time) has done a great deal due to injury but i would still have him instead of Lennon

Acres has started to come on nicely with fitness and consistent games.

Id be happy with Blake Acres at the Tigers

Re: Welcome to the RFC - Corey Ellis

Look at the difference in the interviews with the Cellis and Oleg. Corey is very subdued, low-key, unsure of himself, looks worried about how he's going to answer the questions. Possibly not confident of how he'll overcome his run of injuries or how he'll re-gain some form to play his best footy. Hope the coaches can see that he needs a bit of help to build up his belief and self-confidence in his body and to become a good player...if that's what he wants. Does he really want to be an AFL footballer after all?

Very impressive interview with Oleg, comes across as smart, alert, confident, knows what he wants to achieve as a player and is willing to work hard to get there. Of course he has not had the injury concerns that Corey's had to deal with but he just seems a more confident person who wants to be a top AFL player.

Reading a lot into two interviews. I personally thought both were very impressive.

Corey didn't seem to lack confidence when he said his target was to play 22 games and he welcomed competition.

Good signs from both IMO.

Corey was worried he was going to forget what answer they told him to say before the tape was rolling mike ;D

Re: Welcome to the RFC - Corey Ellis

Must say if Tigermike thinks Corey looked worried, I'd love to play poker with him.

Corey almost struggling to hide a smirk.

Maybe the questioner was a looker.

Re: Welcome to the RFC - Corey Ellis

I'm just happy that he is getting some continuity with his pre season training. Will stand him in very good stead leading into a crucial season for him. Ellis needs to play. Very important in these early developments seasons.

I'm quite confident both these boys will play 200+ games for us.

Jeez. The only thing I got from it was that CEllis has a fairly reserved personality.

that particular brand of so-called PC has been around since Jack Dyer, 'I won't say anything in case I say something'.

This reserved personality might make him a nice guy but may not help him as an AFL footballer. He said the thing the coaches want him to keep working on is his 'voice'. So he has to be more assertive in training and game simulation drills. He has to confidently demand the footy, not just be there and hope they see him. He's got to tell teammates he wants the ball in his hands because he has the skills to do something good with it. So if his voice is poor after 2 seasons then he has significant maturing to do in making the transition from U18 to AFL level. Will an injury-free period give him the confidence he needs? Can he change his natural reserved personality enough? Be interesting to know how he went at U18 level regarding his voice and communication with teammates.

It may or may not. All I am saying is that it's pretty hard to tell from one 2 minute video

Re: Welcome to the RFC - Corey Ellis

Reserved personality might not help him as an AFL player ehh.

There's a certain Bloos player who was VERY reserved but was an absolute champeen (as the yanks would say)
His name is Bruce Doull

If Corey gets anywhere near. Quarter of what Doull was I'll be a very happy little vegemite

Let his footy do the talking. Not his... talking
