Michael Tuck, Gary Ablett Senior and junior.

Anyway if you watch Corey play he is thinking two steps in front of most others. I doubt he lacks confidence in his footy IQ.

The whole notion is a furphy anyway caused by too much tea reading in a long summer.

Reserved personality might not help him as an AFL player ehh.

There's a certain Bloos player who was VERY reserved but was an absolute champeen (as the yanks would say)
His name is Bruce Doull

If Corey gets anywhere near. Quarter of what Doull was I'll be a very happy little vegemite
Doull had a fierce attack on the footy, would not be beaten in contests plus many other positive traits. I have this feeling that Corey is a nice neat player who needs to develop a more competitive streak. Did anyone see his games in the 2nds last year? Did he impact games enough or just drift in and out?

IMO he just needs to get his body right for AFL and that may be more difficult than it sounds.

His decision making and execution under heat and in the open is probably the best at Tigerland save maybe for Jack and Milesy inside.

His KPIs are get body right and get ball (still a biggie of course). Everything after that is silk.

Re: Welcome to the RFC - Corey Ellis

Hope he gets his *smile* together this year having him play 20 games would be a big plus

Last or nearly last game , second half against Sandy at Sandy - was real good off half back. Strong and clean.

Conca was other standout in that half..

Re: Welcome to the RFC - Corey Ellis

Would like to see him off half back but unsure if there will be a postion there for him straight in the guts deep end learn as you go

This reserved personality might make him a nice guy but may not help him as an AFL footballer. He said the thing the coaches want him to keep working on is his 'voice'. So he has to be more assertive in training and game simulation drills. He has to confidently demand the footy, not just be there and hope they see him. He's got to tell teammates he wants the ball in his hands because he has the skills to do something good with it. So if his voice is poor after 2 seasons then he has significant maturing to do in making the transition from U18 to AFL level. Will an injury-free period give him the confidence he needs? Can he change his natural reserved personality enough? Be interesting to know how he went at U18 level regarding his voice and communication with teammates.

You don't seriously believe what you wrote do you? Voice usage in footy is all about the timing, nothing to do with being assertive. Some of the quietest footballers ever have been the best footy players ever. Corey Ellis will be a damn good footballer imo. One of the best decision makers and disposer in the team. Yeah he's light on, which will always be his challenge, but he can mix it at AFL level, I've seen it.

Has he put on any weight?

Apparently he does during the day but then loses it again when he relieves himself at the end of the day.

CEllis looks bigger'and better to me, came out of rehab shortly after Christmas and now training well with main group. All things point to him playing off half back going by training but 6 into 4 backline positions don't go, (Kmac/Houli/Markov/CEllis/Grimes/Shorty). How would you structure up guys given Rance and Astbury have the key posts. Is CEllis ready for midfield, (prob not). Maybe Kmac mid or wing? We are desperate for a Lids at his prime off h/b replacement so i think they have locked in Markov for that. So my set up would be :

Shorty Rance Grimes
Markov Astbury Cellis
Kmac Caddy Bellis
Rioli Griffiths Lennon
Martin Riewoldt Edwards

Followers: Hammer Cotch Prestia

Interchange: Vlaustin Menadue Nank Conca

Controversial pick Lennon: Have no time for him at all, (don't think leopards can change their spots), but we are desperate for a marking half forward who can kick. He reckons it's his 1st full pre-season, employed a sprinting coach and has a point to prove. You can only improve what you can but from observing he is still the slowest on our list and somewhat lacking in work ethic. But we drafted him at 12 for a reason so happy for his "Last Chance Saloon" moment to be round 1.

Love child in waiting: Shai!!!! need to see a few pre-season games to see if we can slot him in.

Out are regulars of last year : Grigg/Houli/Lambert/Miles/Hunt

thats a good looking side caesar.

I dont mind your forgiving attitude towards Lennon, but im a bit of a Grigg fan (kicks clutch goals I reckon), so I'd be reluctant to leave him out.

But, yeah, I really like your analysis and side. Wont be at all surprised to see $hai sit in a FP round 1.

be a huge boost if Cellis can convert his jimmy bartel traits into games.

we seem to have a fair bit of upside when you look at your 22. fingers crossed

Re: Welcome to the RFC - Corey Ellis

Hey Easy, unlike many I do agree with you on Grigg, but I were looking for some regeneration in our side, so had to find some casualties. Titch needs to pull his finger out, Shai could be pinching his pockets, (pardon the pun), if he is not careful.

8-
Actually think it's Sam who'll take his game up a notch. Looks super fit and was very impressed in the scratch match. We'll have to see.

Back to Corey, def looks like HBF is where they want to play him. Might take Bachar's role..

good signs when we have good players in the 2nds.

that would be good also.

without wishing to denigrate tiger footballers, I think we need blokes like lambert, batch, bachar and hunt in the 2's if we are to be any good. Its been said a million times; our bottom 6 six need to be better, and in caesars 22, the bottom 6 right now (i think, like others shorty and markov will march up the order) probably shorty, markov, astbury, bellis, lennon and hammer.

then the next bottom 6 upgrade would probs be Nanks for hammer, $hai for Lennon, Top 10 picks 2017 for Astbury. + hope like hell Bellis recaptures his best.

Re: Welcome to the RFC - Corey Ellis

You'll have half a dozen at a minimum unavailable every week.

Depth a massive issue, in fact our biggest heading into 2017.
