I thought he was meant to be an inside mid with class.

Irony isn't it. We are crying out for inside mids with class but the one we recruit we play in the backline. Its all going well at the asylum.

Re: Welcome to the RFC - Corey Ellis

Time for a spell for him and Menadue. No need for them to flounder in the 1s. Go back to VFL for a month and come ba k for another crack.

What was your criticism on him again?

Was a bit bread & butter, nothing flash, too much like Conca.. But others in the industry were a fan of his. I'm not sure he has the inside game we hoped for. But he looks cooked five minutes into a game. And even at the ground he just lopes. Doesn't get too multiple contests. I'm not completely out in him, still have high hopes. Thinking longterm.

Re: Welcome to the RFC - Corey Ellis

Looks and moves like an old man.

Just doesn't look vibrant. And he's at an age where vibrant should be his gig.

No, he doesn't get dropped. That's half the problem we keep dropping kids after a bad game.
Agree. Keep playing him. Just not in the back pocket.

Dimma is an idiot.

Never saw him as a mid watching his draft video
He's a loose HBF that wants the easy ball and just dishes it off . we already had enough of them

his disposal is terrible.
I got told it was suppose to be great
I've been one of those promoting the silk thing after seeing him in both AFL and VFL last year.
But he got me worried from the start of this year with a number of missed targets including handballs that should have been straight forward.
I'm going to keep the faith with him and assume it's just part of the learning curve. But it's a definite concern.
And he ain't a natural defender.

He is classy, he'll be fine. As someone else said, he's just playing like a kid scared to make a mistake. Ergo don't play him one out in the back pocket.

Just needs more time to develop.

Re: Welcome to the RFC - Corey Ellis

He was recruited as a midfielder not a rebounding defender. If the coaching staff stupidly want to turn him into a defender, then let him do his apprenticeship in the VFL, not in the starting 18 at AFL level.
Ellis needs to go back to the VFL, play as a midfielder (and only as a midfielder) and consistently get quality possessions and learn how to create play. He needs to learn what it feels like to continually get over 25 touches per match, rather than the 11 he gets playing at the moment.

Yep, what he said.

You were right SCOOP, as he showed these failures last night. OK, he's 19 and still has time, but let's see how long the long-term is.

Just sit him on a wing & half forward. Let him play in the midfield from day one.

Ellis is on the same path of destruction that killed Conca & Vlaustin. Wasting on the back flank. Look what Essendon are doing with Darcy Parish, Melbourbe with Clayton Oliver. None of them spend time in the defensive fifty.

Killing them slowly is old Dimma with his defensive 50 first year rule.

Re: Welcome to the RFC - Corey Ellis

Dimma thinks like a back pocket. Always has.

When Bellamy leaves, he should take over Melbourne Storm if he loves starting from defence so much.

Totally agree...this season he just needed to stay fit an play footy at either level with a lot of midfield time, think it's better for him and the team too have a solid month at VFL level finding plenty of the footy

So true. His defensive mindset has taken the instinctive flair out of these kids.

Even look at Castagna. He is an explosive player off half back. But now they are trying to turn him into a defensive forward. Its madness.

Play the kids in their most natural positions and let them develop FFS.
