Cotchin or Kruezer

:cutelaugh Fantastic 74.

Pettifer can play Tripitaka.

Spot on with Petts mate

I would then have Raines as Pigsy (his genetics alone make him our premier ladies man)

Kane as Sandy (most people wonder why he is there, he don't say much, but on his day he can still do damage)

as for Horse, who's been carrying Pettifer the most?

You got it in one BF. I certainly don't understand the nickname, think it is demeaning and stupid.
Bobby Skilton from Sth. Melb. was the original Chimp. Three Brownlows and I think Nine club best and fairests means he was a fairly handy player.
Chimp Cotchin should feel honoured to be nicked after such a player.
If he's anywhere near as good Tiger supporters will be priveleged to have such a rare talent to cheer for.

I am sure Chaimp won't lose any sleep.

I'm with you TOO. Think of the best nicknames, they either are a slight put-down (esp in Australia) or have a bit of mocking about them.

Do you think Cox cries at night after doing the Footy Show and being called "Big Cox" 43821 times? Did the Ox think it was insulting being compared to a beast of burden? Was Michael Roach insulted that after becoming a champion goal kicker, yet failed to earn the truly awesome name of "Roachy" and instead copped the trivial name of "Disco"?

What about Tony Lockett and "Plugger"?? I bet he shed tears over that one.

Sure, we could just add an "o" or "y" to his name, and call him Cotcho or Cotchy, but we don't win much in the originality stakes there.

Definitely with you on this one TOO, people need to lighten up and remember the intention of a nickname, and its to have fun.

If the Blues are smart they will learn from what the pies did with Fraser and do the opposite.
Kruezer will make an excellent CHF.
By all means use him sparingly in the Ruck or they can even use him as we did with Richo on the wing.
Hence the reason why the Blues are chasing Warnock.
The Pies Ruined Fraser.

Hip surgery won't hamper Kreuzer
Emma Quayle | September 21, 2008

CARLTON expects Matthew Kreuzer to be back in full training by the start of the club's pre-season after sending the young ruckman for "preventative" hip surgery.

The Blues' football manager, Steven Icke, told The Sunday Age that rather than wait for Kreuzer's hip condition to cause any permanent damage, the club's medical staff had decided to act before any symptoms presented.

Before Kreuzer was drafted, it was discovered he had a condition called femoroacetabular impingement (FAI) , which meant there was a bony bump growing on his hip joint.

The bump could have sat there for years and done nothing, but had it begun to grind into Kreuzer's hip cartilage, it would have caused permanent arthritis and potentially cut a few years from his career. It is considered by some experts to be a leading cause of osteitis pubis.

Icke said Kreuzer, who had the routine arthroscopy at the end of his excellent debut season, would not miss any of the pre-season and would no longer have to worry about the hip troubling him.

"It's a precautionary thing we've done with him, rather than him showing any symptoms," said Icke. "The view was that rather than have it become a significant thing down the track, we could make an important decision now in terms of his longevity.

"You never want to engage in surgical procedures unless there's some sort of necessary reason to do so, and symptomatically he wasn't suffering a great deal of pain from it, but the medical view was that it could become a problem down the track, so why wait until that happens, why not fix it now?

"It was done for preventative reasons and he'll be ready to go for pre-season. The recovery time isn't too bad, so he'll be right to go and on track when we come back."

The Blues will resume training on October 28.

Yep, although it may have been just after the draft there was a story in the paper about Kreuzer and a victorian cricket player who both had the same condition which required surgery. I think the cricket player had already had the operation and it said that Kreuzer will require it as it could shorten his career. It meant the Top 3 picks all had injury concerns, Kreuzer with his hip, Cotchin with his ankle and Masten with OP. Out of the three we clearly got the only short term injury which is nice to know.

Kreuzer's hip is not an issue from what I've read, Western. He has an early diagnosis.

If they don't treat the femoral bump thingy it chews all the cartilage out of the hip. Career over. And life style severely disrupted.

On Kreuzer's year I saw a bit of the lad. He was very shy and green early and generally not ready for the ruckwork. TBH he was very ordinary. Not that you'd hold that against an 18yo.

But his best games were forward. He structures the Blues up (they have zippedeee forward structure), gives a contest and has ground game. Smart lad. He's no star overhead but he knows how to play. He was impressive at times.

The idea that Simmonds should somehow have been replaced by a #1 draft pick is IMO wrong. He was a rookie himself - that should give us a clue as to how we can find his replacement.

Josh Fraser was born to play HFF. There is not a key defender in the AFL in the last ten years who could not wipe the floor with him in the air. And did on the occasions when the Pies tried him in key slots. Not good enough.
