PUNT ROAD END | Richmond Tigers Forum

i can't help but think we've got a dream run with the Cotch and easing him into AFL footy.
consider the following:

1. Was picked second rather than first, therefore slightly reducing the amount of pressure, media attention and recognition
2. missed the preseason and the start of the season, so avoided being mentioned as one of the gun rookies early
3. plays for richmond, a team nobody wanted to care about, compared with rioli for high flying hawks
4. first game - wasn't named in the side, played on a wet day where you couldn't see anyone
5. in his second season where he can expect a great deal more attention suddenly ben cousins comes along and takes attention away from him both on and off the field.

when i talk to my non rfc mates and mention what a gun cotchin is they almost always just scoff at me and know nothing about him. is our chimp the leagues best kept secret? we all think or even know he's gonna be a top 5 midfield gun sooner rather than later but not many other people know.

for this reason i'm excited about season 2009 and the cotch taking the next step or three! let's get back to discussing our young guns who are much more important than cuz in the grand scheme of things.
