there is absolutey no reason to bag a player who has just been named captain of an AFL team...i find that extremely unnecessary ...

good luck to him...
Gee sites like this and posts like this suck the fun out of football. Way to add lead to the balloon.

I don't necessarily put Maxwell up with the greats of all time and if you ask Collingwood supporters they would agree. He throws his weight around and tries to stand up for his team and good on him. In one case last year he fired up his opponents more with his actions than his teammates. There's is more to leadership than acting tough.. etc etc etc

One thing's for certain, every AFL player gives up more than we do to achieve his dream and only gets a short window to do it. People on here slag McMahon, slag Pettifer, slag anyone who misses 3 kicks in a game and act like it's their right to judge a person by that.

I was merely poking a little fun at a leadership group that included a guy 90% of the football world wonders how he's still going. Good on him for doing that he's probably winning people over with every misplaced kick he has.

I think there's a difference between this topic and the vitriol that's spewed out every day/week about players on our own teams.

Trust me, the pies fans will give it to us every day of the week too and have been giving it to Richo for 15 years.

Have a giggle, live footy, take it slightly less seriously, support your team, stand up for your mates and be good to your mother.

Looking at the Saints drafting Dawson I start to understand how other teams supporters would have looked at us when we recruited Kinglsey.
ill go out on a limb here and state that i dont have a big problem with dawson. i think hes a late bloomer. just a hunch.
unlike kingsley hes only 22 for a 195 cm plus player they sometimes take time. the yr richo kicked 10 on him or was it someone else there were some signs that sort of pricked my interest.
mind you in backing in 22 23 yr olds that have done little sort of asks to be kicked in the arse for being so stupid.

of course claw, RFC didn't recruit Dawson so you think it's not that bad.

i think maxwell is a 5/10 ----- a bit ordinary

i cant see collingwood making the 8 next year even with all the help they get off AFL

collingwood....the laughing stock. maxwell, please hes lucky to be getting a game let alone be captain.........ever since he got the number 5 he thinks hes the chosen one. trying to play the enforcer/leader...........give me a break.
anyway its good for the rest of the clubs to have a laugh at. if they dont sack eddie soon, the place will totally fall apart. what next....
:rofl

Me thinks next season collingwood will have a big fall. IMO they over achived this season with the talent they have, or lack of talent. Thank their lucky stars they have Malthouse as coach, because no one could have gotten them so far up the ladder.

Must admit I wondered why the pies chose today to make the announcement, in the middle of all the hype at tigerland. But once the announcement was made it all made sense - they wanted to slide it through with as little publicity as possible!

No offence to Nick Maxwell, but all the collingwood supporters I know are pretty disappointed - and surprised that he gets a game, let alone has been made captain.

Eddie is having a pretty bad December all in all. Poor Eddie. :ner

Ridiculous statement. He plays for Collingwood. It's only natural.

Geez Claw, Redford was right. You really are attracted to duds aren't you. First Graham now Dawson :o What's wrong with you man?? :rofl :rofl

Best part of that press conference was that everyone was at Tigerland for Cuz, so there were about 10 blokes and a couple of cameras. I think I saw a tumbleweed roll past when Mick was saying that he thinks Maxwell will be one of the "great" captains............. :cutelaugh

Hey Santa, why did Hawthorn punt him then? Do you think he will do better in the Saints backline?

Good luck to Maxwell. I hope he leads Collingwood to successive bottom eight finishes.

sheesh like i said i would go out on a limb what does that infer.

based on a few nice highlights if you like i would not be going out and drafting him personally. but i reckon theres something thereits not our problem if he fails but hes only 22 theres heaps of kids around the country you would give a go to if possible. the fact is its just not possible with short lists. while im making a fool of myself sam jacobs would have been one to rookie. whilst ive got a lot wrong with hunches ive got just as many right. i dont see to many on this site throwing their hat in the ring.

hi claw, have read a lot of your posts but its the first time i have responded to any of them.
what is it about sam jacobs that you like / rate & would you prefer him to graham on our list, another question i would like to ask you is why are you always so negative with our list, sure we have around 6-7 players currently on it that are treading water but so does every other club.
looking at our list i actually feel that we are finally getting into the area that we want to be which is the top half with a developeing list.
