Just finished having a conversation/argument with a Hawks supporter friend of mine and have been thinking about where both sides are at right now.
He says we should have traded a few of our senior players for draft picks like they did but I argued that you need some senior experience for team balance so you don't play guys before their time. And then there was the whole Bling vs Buddy debate but I love the Bling and reckon he's gonna win that whole argument in the long run. Also argued about Kingsley's recruiting but I'm not so concerned about him as opposed to the whole national draft strategy.
As much as I would have loathed to trade guys like Richo, Browny and Bowdo I can't help looking at the Hawks list and thinking that they have stockpiled some good youth pretty quickly. As guys like Phantom have mentioned we are a bit light on for young KPP's and I'm starting to think that we might have had a crack at a few good ones with some extra draft picks from some trades.
Just wondering what everyone else thinks about this and if we have done the right thing or should we have taken a more long term approach with our recruiting. Basically, who do you think is better off in the long run - us or the Dawks?
