Cousins Favours Punt Road

By Tony Greenspin for spittle.com.au

Former Eagles skipper Ben Cousins touched down in Melbourne late this afternoon and headed straight for Punt Road.

His taxi driver, Hafeez Faihr Adad, told reporters that the disgraced footballer had decided not to pay the Citilink tollway fare in favour of public roads on his way via Richmond to accommodation at a friend’s apartment in South Yarra. “I got lost too,” Adad added.

In a statement Cousins said he felt comfortable with the environment at Punt Road. “Traffic was really banked up so I’d have little trouble outrunning any booze buses,” he said.

However, Cousins was bemused by the sight of a lone protester holding a placard that read: “Say No to Cousins”.

Cousins explained: “At first I thought it was a protest against a Tasmanian AFL team, but then I recognised Phantom beneath his funny hat. But why would he use a placard when he could send some PMs?”
