so what about the appointment that will rock the footy world?

I've given up on it.

The only thing that the Tigers can do that will rock the footy world is to change the music of its theme song to Acca Dacca, or the like. ;)

Ha!

R is very good for collating & displaying stats in an electronic environment.

But then, if these stats had to be analysed, I'd take SPSS everytime.

what you are doing isn't too demmanding, and the data sets aren't enormous, most of it could actually be done on excel

I like the sound of that Phanto. 8)
Keep the melody, but heavy rock it a bit.

It takes a little more than that.

What I suggest is actually taking a copy of SPSS and importing a data files that contains the heights, weights, ages & games for all players then running some output files of dispersions of lists, looking for the major percentiles, quartiles, minimum & maximum values. Histograms are good but I do prefer box plots for better comparisons.

These stats must measure each individuals actual football ability as well phanto? This is called a footyhistocentilecolumndatapercentagequartile leysy heard.

If our club needs to go to this much effort to find the evidence provided by the teams I mentioned we're in big trouble.

There's a lot to be said for not making things more complex than they need to be.

what yr did cameron go to melb end of 95 i think.
in that time melb have been the proverbial yo yo but melb ladder finishes 96 to 07 says cameron can put together a finals list.
in 96 97 his first two yrs melb finished 14th and 16th. 98 they finished 4th. so in 3 yrs he played a part in getting a list capable of finals.for some reason in 99 they finished 14th and then made a gf in 2000. finished 11th in 01and back up to 6th in 02.down to 14th in 03 and back up to 5th in 04.7th in 05 and 7th again in 06. then 14th in 07 and probably 16th this yr.
i think one thing is clear melb under him could never get their hands on enough quality players to take them all the way but he did a good enough job to keep them sniffing about the place.

As I've said about Craig, and the reason I was as emotive on this forum about getting him last year as I currently am about Pelchen.

Exactly the type we need.

I just mentioned on here the other day. CC is the "cold analytical type" very hard to sell him on bells and whistles alone. His not the type who recruits on romantic/instinctual measures as much as analytical data/criteria/list needs.

Pelchen is another methodical/cold/analytical type.

We need more of this at RFC, leave the fire and brimstone to the coach, supporters and support staff.

Everything else, has to be a cold, analytical, ruthless juggernaught.

I have a strong suspicion Craig had a lot of interfering/influence at Melbourne. But it's only a guess/hunch. A lot of Sheedy's students are very similar to himself (understandably), if anything the most common denominator through them all is just about all of them like to have a heavy influence on recruiting.

If you could ask Craig and confirm or rule out my suspicion by forum or private message sometime Phantom would be most appreciated, discretion would be assured if required.

Not fussed on him recruiting by analytical data/criteria/list needs DD.

Leysy just hopes he can recruit natural footballers. Simple as that.

A lot of people seem to be missing the point, in fact a point well proven by Millers departure, one man can't do it all.

It is a matter of getting a quality team to fill a fast range of positions covering a variety of roles and obviously the board has recognised this and are taking steps to put this in place.

Its no point worry about who did what where, its more important as to what the qualities of the person is and hopefully with the right people around him in a team that is all pulling in the right direction we might finally start to see some signifigent shifts in the way the RFC operates off field and hopefully this will translate to a much more successful onfield performance than we have seen over the last 25 years
