Not many do now, however I’d prefer to enforce the follow on , especially in these conditions

We would have run through them. Anderson has wasted a golden opportunity here with rubbish bowling.

Amazing what happens when you pitch it up when it’s going sideways. He could have had 5 or 6 tonight.

It was a bit closer to leg stump than i thought.

Might as well call every LB the DRS.

Really really poor decision to not enforce the follow on, shows Smiths lack of tactical nous.

I thought the same, who knows, maybe we're tanking to save the next 3 days to bowl them out?

Agree 100%

I don't understand the modern trend of protecting bowlers.
FFS you have the best conditions in the world for pace bowling.
You have the opposition on their knees. And you give them a break.

Even though leysy would have also picked the No-Show ahead of Marsh you cannot possibly knock the selection now.

The selectors are sitting back smoking cigars ATM.

Renshaw has been hopeless all Shield season before the first test, has got even worse since. Would not have scored a run.

Marsh now has two critical innings when his team has been under pressure. Justified.

The uninformed nelly knockers were out in force after an early tough dropped catch but Tassie Tim Paine also has been his usual smooth self behind the stumps and played a wonderful counter attacking innings that pretty much turned this Test.

Looking right at home as our Test Keeper batsman.

Resident King Nuffy showed his usual knowledge though bahahahaha!

But your boy has been set up to fail. Not intentionally of course. But he,ll be out of the side before this Ashes series is over.

Don't agree with that. Best to bowl last. Australia could declare now and still win.

We could have won the game much easier if we enforced the follow on, we've just made it harder for ourselves. Even with 4 bowlers they weren't overworked.

EDIT: an article on the English POV and why not enforcing the follow on was what England wanted:

I tend to agree with this.

No need to tire our bowlers by making them bowl 3 days straight. The plan was probably to make the english bowlers toil some more, although they did get great conditions to bowl in - I doubt many would have predicted the ball to do as much as what it was doing.

Yes, it would have been pretty cool watching the aussies bowl last night but we will likely get to see it tonight anyway.

I look at the follow on a bit different, the Poms were destroyed in confidence an there’s a Snow flakes chance in hell that they wouldn’t have lost at least 3 or 4 last night, so the only way there team was going to build any confidence was having Anderson and Broad bowling in there dream conditions against our still suspect batting line up, the other thing is it’s not hot or tough conditions for the bowlers so 20 Odd overs between 4 , a night of sleep and then half a day at the most . Think there’s little doubt we will still win this test, however I think the foot on the throat follow on tactic should be used more like it use to be. Poms now have some confidence again that should have been demolished last night imho.
