Seems like Smith should be having Maxwell teach him how to catch.

He has now dropped three he should have taken and only Bill Lawry in the commentary seems to call him out - the rest go about defending Smith as though they were the hardest catches in the world.

Caught a ripper today..

Good article re Maxwell here.

I wonder if Maxwell could mount a legal challenge. Restraint of trade or someone workplace claim.

His nonselection is not based in form.

Most of what the writer refer to is in the past and doesn't relate to the fact that he is applying himself better now. The writer says he should have seen the writing on the wall well it looks as though he has and he still doesn't get selected. Everything that Lehmann said about him relates to the Marshes as well why do they get a free pass?

When Maxwell was left out of the Test team, I said I hoped he would be left out of the ODI side too, so he could get more time in first-class cricket. He's not the first who will have to make his case irresistible through weight of runs. If he does, look out, we might have a middle order star partner for his mate Smith.

As a champion of both those players, I am not a fan of Smith's captaincy. The predictable short-pitched barrage at the tail has lost its shock effect as the series has reached the slower and lower pitches. By letting Broad know exactly where every single ball he would face would be pitched (hint: nowhere near the stumps, so don't feel the need to protect 'em, mate) they've rebuilt his confidence as a batsman. Gob-smackingly dumb bowling to him and Curran this morning - captain's fault.

It might not be much more than a case of tough love with Maxwell. They know they have a player capable of making runs against any bowling, on any pitches. They refuse to reward flashy 60s, or even the odd hundred, because they know he can make consistent Test hundreds once works it out.

Not sure if he’ll improve his Captaincy however I think his a woeful captain, I think his only Captain because his simply the best player and there’s no other regular who is of captaincy material . No doubt he has the talent to lift his own game while been Captain. Dead set superstar cricketer and I’m on my own here but I think his a flog of a bloke

Not on your own, agree with all that.

Flog may be going to far but I definitely don't hold a high opinion of him as captain or more generally as a bloke.

On form, Shaun Marsh is the one unlucky - Moreso than Maxwell.

Lynn selection is a strange one, given his lack of cricket, for sure.

S. Marsh hasnt scored higher than 22 in an ODI for 2 years.
his One Day series this year was good, but not considerably better than guys like Maddison or Khawaja.

my issue with that is that he never gets the chance to pay consistent red ball cricket. That is the one upside to his non-selection at this point, is that unless something changes he will hopefully play the last 5 shield games. he will probably get picked in the Australian 20/20 side tho (especially if the test players go to SAF while the 20/20s are on).

100% agree, Brodders. But Maxi can sign to play county cricket if he wants. Mitch Marsh has.

They will pick Maxi for any and every white ball tournament that matters. Bet on it.

The South Africans are going through the Indians like a dose of salts 4-57. Only been watching for a few overs, young quick Rabada has bowled one ball at 149 k's. A big test coming up for Aust batsmen against Philander, Rabada, Morkel and Steyn who are all playing in this test.

Do many people follow the bbl as in have a team they follow ? I don’t mind havin a look but don’t really follow any team

Don't follow anyone, i'll watch it, but i prefer to watch test cricket. Philander got a wicket first ball after lunch, India 5-85.

Follow individual players moreso than a team but it is handy to have on in the background every night. Like the Renegades though if pushed. jb junior likes the Heat due to Lynn, McCullum and Cutting.

In a smart move CA have been advertising heavily on kids channels like Nickelodeon.

Already mid to high 30's in Sydney, i hope we keep the Poms in the field until an hour after after lunch.
