Cricket

These last 2 tests have been snoozefests. Surely the ACB hasnt ordered flat dull tracks after we went 3-0 up?

Winning the Ashes is a bit like winning the flag I suppose in the fact it doesn’t matter how you win or how bad the opposition is, however how much do we take from this series ? This attack is woeful, Anderson is about as good as an Indian spinner when his away from his favourable conditions and his clearly there best bowler. Glad the Marsh’s an Kawajha have made runs and hopefully it’s onward an upward, however history still has the jury out. Great to see a keeper who can actually keep and doesn’t get a gig because his got a big mouth, in saying that Paines not young for a spot that requires great reflexes.

Side note, listening to the experts and how they pick up on the players faults, how do so many players get to the highest level with such glaring errors ? I know in a sport like golf when you have a weakness you hit the practice fairway , putting green or wherever the fault lie an work 8 hours a day to improve it so you become a more rounded player. Of course players will always have strengths an weaknesss but to get to world class with such bad techniques in areas simply amazes me with all the coaching elite juniors get now.

Agree. Can'r recall a more boring series.

Agree. The cricket and a league would have both made for a very boring footy off season if it wasn't for Richmond finals and GF replays!

Just turned 33.
Haddin played Test cricket from the ages of 30 to 37.

Healy kept till 35 and Gilly 37, so hopefully he has a few more good years, though it seems Carey is very popular

This current Aust side has very little class. Show a little grace when you're just about to crush the opposition.

still not convinced about S. Marsh. he has played one great innings, and a couple of other good ones. but as a 34yo who doesnt bowl i reckon he has done the bare minimum required.

M. Marsh was brought in so he could provide bowling support. he bowling has been ordinary, (and that is generous.) his batting has proven a success, but i doubt even the selectors would rank him in the the top 10 batsmen in Australia.

S Marsh second highest run getter in series (both sides included)

Sth Africa will be the real test for his batting but he surely has earnt a bit of praise now?

M Marsh did well with bat, (following on good shield form) hopefully he gets some oomph back in his bowling.

Agree with this.
Warner's 100 celebration the ball after he was out of a no-ball was gross in the extreme.

I think we will get belted in South Africa. Then England will really have to think about how bad they are.

off the back of Sydney ill give S.Marsh a pass. ill wait for SAfrica before giving him a higher mark.

i hope M. Marsh can make it. he will make the Test team a lot stronger, but it remains to be seen whether his batting or his bowling is good enough. again SAf will be a test.

Great test at moment in sth Africa.

India need 178 to win with 8 wickets in hand. Kohli In. Philander bowling great. Pitch bouncing and nipping. Great cricket could care less about bbl with this on.

6 out of the last 7 series between Australia and South Africa have been won by the visiting team and the other one was drawn.
Last time the home team won such a series was 2005-06 in Australia.

Anyone just see how Alex Ross was given out?

I don’t agree, he was in his ground when the ball hit the stumps.

According to the scorecard he was given out "obstructing the field", not run out.

Yes that’s right. The ball hit the stumps off his body. He was in his ground when the ball hit the stumps. I felt he should have been given the benefit of the doubt.

Anyway it was a bizarre wicket.

He definitely deviated off his running line a long way but in affect seem to be almost trying to aoid the ball. Certainly strange. McCullum was having a fair old whinge.
