Cricket

Looks like Aust are going to go zip and two in the ODI, 270 is not going to be enough. I can see the Poms getting the runs with at least 5 overs to spare.
Cameron White couldn't hit the ball off the square.

No G Maxwells not good enough to be in this side ::)

And i bet he's not even the next in line. They'll bring in Khawaja with an ODI strike rate of just over 80, or S. Marsh who's strike rate is in the 70's.

Smith, Finch, Head, and White have all got ODI strike rates in the 80's, Maxwell's is in the 120's, he's a match winner but he's not good enough!!!!

Yep No Show needs to play ahead of Head. No question.

Team balance completely out.

White dropped for a spinner - Not Zampa. Swepson or similar.

Warner and Smith also need to score runs. The former especially.

Correct me if I’m wrong Leysy but don’t most good one day teams now have a good percentage of slower bowlers ? We seem to be a full on pace attack.

I find when listening to Mark Waugh talk about players that it’s obvious who he likes an doesn’t not like, pig headed blok3 who won’t change his opinion on players.

Nothing to do with the fact I’m not a Smith fan( bloke not batsman) however I reckon the bubble is about to burst, yes probably the stupidest statement I’ve made, however like all greats they have a down patch and too me his moving more an more around the crease, time will tell and I hope I’m wrong as without him our batting line up ain’t flash.

Selectors have got a lot of kudos in recent times, however how many batsman have come na gone in recent years, so many had potential but now a pretty much forgotten, bad management an poor timing of selection imho. Paine has been great, question is why wasn’t he bought in earlier, makes me sick that Wade has worn a baggy green. Glad too see Shaun Marshgoing well now, however how many sporting organisations would continually keep going back to the same well that continued to fail. Just on the bowlers any 12 year old cricket follower can pick our bowling line up, however whenever one of the locks is out they go to Bird, geez surely they can think outside the square an find somebody who will some what deliver. Other then stars , I think these selectors have killed of more careers then made them, pretty good talent pool these blokes have to work with.

Lyon is a must. Best spinner in Australia, should play. Finch needs to score more quickly.

Smith said before ODI 1 that we need more runs from our middle order.
So Cam White gets conscripted, but doesn't play. Instead we play 4 all rounders and get flogged.
ODI 2 - mmm what to do says Smithy? Still need more middle order runs so I'll pick White.
But I'll bat him at 7 behind three all rounders at 4 5 and 6.

Oh Steve, you do realise the poms are playing 6 specialist bats with Root rolling his arm over; 4 specialist bowlers and a keeper?
Whereas in ODI 2 we played 4 bats, keeper, 3 specialist bowlers and 3 all rounders who batted 4 5 and 6. You had so many bloody bowlers Steve that Marsh didn't get a bowl until the end of the innings.

So may I humbly suggest Steve that you get the team structure right? Forget your mates and just select a balanced team. I'll even have a crack at it for you.

Warner
Finch
Smith
White
Short
Maxwell
Paine
Cummins
Starc
Hazelwood
Lyon

Seems odd to me we are playing meaningless ODI's where crowd numbers are poor and no test cricket where weve just recorded record attendances.

Id rather see a 6th test and no ODIs. Theres plenty of T20 to fill the cricket fans desire of the shorter g ame.

I think they've got it wrong. Replace the ODIs with T20's. ODI is a dying form of the game.

Cam White is not up to international standard. A bloke playing his first international looked a class above White.

And the only thing I can think of is that the selectors want to ‘manage’ Lyon. He is miles ahead of zampa.

Agree on White, he looked like a number eleven the other day, can't see him picked again on that performance.

Agree that Lyon is very unlucky, but i'd have Agar in ahead of him, he's a very good all rounder. His last two big bash games 26 from 29 balls, 4 overs 3/19, and 13 from 11 balls, 4 overs 2/14, a very good cricketer.

Edit.

Agar to replace White and there would still be room for Lyon.

But White has the advantage of not being Glenn Maxwell.

Forget the ODI's altogether. Let the Ashes test players and English players come back to play the Big Bash. Finish the Big Bash without any other cricket then play 3 (or 5) T20's Aust v England and pick the best T20 team we have based on the BIg Bash performances.

Something has to change, the ODIs are dying a slow death. Apart from the big tournaments ie World Cup or Asian cup there’s no interest.

Alex Carey to replace Tim Paine in today’s ODI v England.

Carey is the heir apparent, Paine is there for a couple of years to allow Carey to be ready in all facets.

Shame that Paine has had to miss so much cricket through injury a top player and a good leader.
