Physical contact? Bowlers and batsman often make physical contact, when they run between wickets or on follow throughs etc.

It wasn't a purely accidental action, it arose out of him giving Smith a send off. The fact that you think Smith was over the top shows your bias quite clearly. And I don't see much difference between Rabada's send offs and the actions of Starc.

Problem with the Rabada suspension is it was too much.
Two tests is a huge suspension in the context of the history of the sport.
One would have been adequate IMO and I reckon the Saffers would have accepted it.

As for England ... :rofl :rofl :rofl

I’m talking the berating after deliveries and between balls. It’s a toxic Aussie tradition. Which is fine if u don’t sook when the opposition dishes it out.

Unfortunately the leadership is out of its depth intellectually

I'm with that view too. Historically we love to give it out but have never been able to take it.

Good comeback from the Aussies. Saffies were 2/220 at one stage but were pegged back to be 8/266 at stumps.

Yes. Some wag on CricInfo said he still thought SA were on top because "250 would be enough".
That may be ... but at 8/266 on the first day of a Test, I know who I'd rather be.

SA all out 311.

Straya 4/150 in reply.

Uzzy failed again with 5. Seriously taking this bloke o/s is like playing one short.

Good rearguard action from Paine and Lyon, they put on 66 runs with Lyon scoring 47 of them. Aust 9-245, 66 runs behind.

Big test now for Steve Smith.

In the history of the game all the great batsmen (except Sir Don) have had form slumps.

It's how they come out of it that measures their greatness.

It's why longevity in sport is a crucial measure of your legacy.

Smith is now going through his period where the ball looks like a marbel and feet are in cement. Hopefully gets out of it soon. Looking horrible ATM. Need him back near his best to be any chance this series.

Leysy couldn't agree.

His form slump mirroring the form slump and struggle of the team as a collective.

SA are beating us with their tactics, hostility and in your face crickey that AUS was so good at.

Maybe they and their fans have crossed the line of acceptable sportsmanship but if you give it over the years and thrive yourself on it , you have to take it.

Miny fight back but with 1 wicket left we may/will face a deficit.

Got to limit their lead to have any chance and silence the crowd.

I still remember Greg Chappell's slump.

Bradman had a form slump.
In six consecutive Tests (last three of bodyline and first three of 1934 in England), he made 426 runs at 38.7, no centuries, three 50s, highest score 76.
