Im watching the game from Botswana and the South African Commentary on SABC 3 is hard to listen to soooo biased but they just showed a big guy with a beard waving an Aussie Flag wearing a Richmond Jumper

SA all out 311.

Straya 4/150 in reply.

Uzzy failed again with 5. Seriously taking this bloke o/s is like playing one short.

Yep. Fat, unfit, lazy and such a poor fielder. Uzzy is a talent but relies on that rather than hard work.

Bradman had a form slump.
In six consecutive Tests (last three of bodyline and first three of 1934 in England), he made 426 runs at 38.7, no centuries, three 50s, highest score 76.

Ha - Gold stat that.

Be nice if one of the bowlers bowled a few yorkers to de Villiers, to my eye that's the best way to get him out.

Someone tried to tell me last night that Gary Ablett Sr was the greatest athlete, of any sport, of all time.
I directed him to this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Don_Bradman#World_sport_context

In fact it's doubtful Gary Ablett Sr is the best athlete in his own family.

Bloody hell, Aussies have been caught dead set cheating

Smith is losing control of this team. If he's complicit in it then he should get a hefty suspension. If you alter your golf club you're disqualified; altering the cricket ball is worse.

Geeze, unbelievable.
Have they viewed Bancroft as the most expendable player and put him up to it?
If so then any more senior players/coaches involved should never be chosen again.
Embarrassed to be an Australian cricket fan if this is proven to be as bad as it looks.
The irony is that Bancroft has been one of the most consistent scorers this series.

Nothing in it. It’s not like he’s got a lollie in his mouth or anything that bad.

Are you kidding? Have you read Smith's admissions?

"I had discussions with the match officials, I've been charged with attempting to change the condition of the ball," Bancroft said after play in Cape Town. "We had a discussion during the break and I saw an opportunity to use some tape, get some granules from the rough patches on the wickets and change the condition, it didn't work, the umpires didn't change the ball. I was cited on the screen and that resulted in me shoving it down my trousers."

A contrite Smith admitted to Australia's leadership group knowing about it. "The leadership group knew about it. We spoke about it at lunch," he said. "I am not proud of what's happened. It's not within the spirit of the game. My integrity, the team's integrity and the leadership group's integrity has come into question. It wont happen again.

"It was the leadership group's idea. Poor choice and we deeply regret our actions. The coaches weren't involved. It was purely the leadership group who came up with this. This is the first time it has happened under my leadership. We saw this game as such as an important game. We've seen the ball reversing through this series and this ball didn't seem like it was going to go. It's such poor actions. Deeply regrettable and wont happen again. I can promise you. I can promise you this is the first time it has happened.

"I am embarrassed. I know the boys in the shed are embarrassed as well. Being the leader I am incredibly sorry. If we weren't caught, I would still regret it.

"I wont consider stepping down [from captaincy]. I still think I am the right person for the job. Today was a big mistake on my part and on the leadership group as well. I have to take control of the ship. This is something I am not proud of. It's something I hope I can learn from and come back from. I am embarrassed. It is a big error in judgement."

This is an admission of cheating. Plain and simple. Not walking when you've nicked it is not cheating IMO. THIS is cheating.
Surely this will be the biggest blow-up in Australian cricket since ... Packer?
If it were up to me, Smith would be stripped of the captaincy and both he and Bancroft banned from Test cricket for at least a year, and I would like to think that CA would have the balls to do this and not rely on the ICC.

Quite part from any of the dishonesty aspects of this, how STUPID are they to think they wouldn't get caught? There are more cameras pointed at a Test match than in Hollywood.
The only bright side? At least they've come clean and not tried to deny it.

What a joke. What did I say about leadership? Worse than the underarm, as this was planned by the leadership group.

This incident says so much about the mentality of the Australian Test cricketer.
It astounds me that, 1 - they thought they'd get away with this, and 2 - that Smith thinks he can admit to a crime of this degree and expect not to have to resign !!!
They are privileged people who have absolutely no respect for the position they hold.
And I don't believe for one minute that Lehmann wasn't in on it, and even if he wasn't, he is responsible for allowing the culture that has infested this team. Either way, he has to go, along with Smith.

The saddest day in my memory as an Australian cricket fan. Worse than the underarm ... much worse ... that was just poor judgement, not cheating.
Hopefully some good can come of this. Purge the team of this cancerous approach to the game.

Only problem is ... who comes in as captain? The only players I can think of who consistently hold their place in the team on merit and fitness are Warner and Lyon and by all accounts they are just as guilty.
I would be asking Michael Clarke to do a Bobby Simpson. Still only 36.

Been a supporter but whatever Steve Smith has done or does from here is irrelevant. He will be forever labelled a cheat.
No excuses, just resign now in disgrace.
Bigger picture is how much damage will this do to cricket in this country?

This may take footy off the front of the paper. Incredibly disappointing. Not sure you get another go once you cheat but maybe we can look to EFC for inspiration. :-X

Disgraceful.

Woke up this morning to a million texts and tweets from pommy mates. What can you say back.

Smith to resign an full investigation into what happened and those guilty banned as well.

Otherwise the innocent will be stained with that brush as well.

After an investigation, whoever is responsible Daisy should be given a ban for a year from playing for our country again.
This is bigger than those on tour.
