My favorite sledge is an exchange between Rod Marsh and Ian Botham.

Marsh: How’s the wife and my kids?
Botham: the wife’s fine, the kids are *smile*.

I did like Warne's bunny, daryll cullinan's retort to warneys attempt to get in his head.
Warne:
“I went on and on with it as I normally do, like a bit of a drip on the forehead and I kept going. After a few overs I said, ‘Daryll, don’t you dare miss me this opportunity. I want to get you out again’.
“I said, ‘I’ve been waiting four years for this’. He turned around to me and said, ‘It looks like you’ve spent it eating too’ and I said, ‘Not bad from you, Daryll. Not bad. Pretty good’.”
;D

The yarpies a really rubbing the Aussies noses in it now, they lead by over 600. No sign of a declaration because they reckon Morkel, Rabada and Philander are all injured may not be able to bowl. Time will tell i guess, but i reckon they might just be enjoying watching the Aussies suffer in the field.

Tigerman I reckon that's what they are doing, especially if there is a chance of rain.?

They declared at tea, Aust need 612 it shouldn't be a problem :D

Renshaw given out caught behind first ball, reviewed which was successful as it hit his arm. It's all happening!!!!

I prefer the humorous anecdotes. Ie *paraphrasing* when Arjuna Ranatunha wouldn't run easy singles because of his "girth" and "fitness level" I think it was Ian Healy who suggested they put a sandwich half way down the pitch, that would tempt him out of his crease.

I am pretty sure that it was a Mars bar.

My favourite was between Ian Botham and Rod Marsh As Botham was batting;
Marsh: How’s your wife and my kids?
Botham: Wife’s fine and the kids are *smile*.

I don't recall Renshaw having this glaring flaw last summer. He plonks the front foot in front of the stumps every ball, and it's got him out in both innings - playing too far from his body and missing the straight one. At lower levels he's obviously good enough to improvise around it, but not here.

Good start from S Marsh - Brodders will be happy.

Hopefully Mitch can show something

This is one of the most well-known (and laughed at) sledges in cricket history, but I wonder how it would go down now in today's more PC times.

Career ending tour for a few players from the Ball Tampering trio ( Smith will be back , Bancroft ..maybe , Warner Never !! ) S Mash , Usman Khawaja probalby finished . The SA commentators having a field day ..very hard to listen too and watch from here in Africa .
7 for 99 chasing 600 + :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'(

Turn on TV at 7:55.

- there's an ad on, must be the end of an over
- another ad, must be a wicket
- another two ads, have they taken early drinks?
- another three ads, MUST be raining
- finally the coverage returns with Australia all out

Unbelievable.

Yep, time for a new beginning.

Maybe Start again with a “young” side but be prepared to cop more of these hidings.

We can’t continue with soft front runners like the Marshes, Khawaja. Warner gone, Smith gone for a year (but will be less than that.....)

Just don’t think Burns is test standard, nor Sayers.

The bowlers (Cummins, Starc, Hazelwood and Lyon) stay.

plenty were raving about the selectors after they picked the 2 Marsh's, Bancroft and Paine for the Ashes.
Paine has been a good selection.
Bancroft was ok before the swing supplement saga.
M. Marsh is the all-rounder who doesnt bowl. (74 overs in 7 tests for 4 wickets at 75.)
S. Marsh has been a 35yo failure.

As a side note Maxwell played the last test before the Australian summer started, averaged over 50 in the shield but wasnt rated in the top 9 batsmen in the country by the end of the summer. not sure how that works.
