Good read about the cricket rights here.

CA not looking too flash and seems little has been learnt about placing mainstream sports behind paywalls.

This is the sort of thing that makes me want to boycott cricket until Sutherland et al are gone, sleazy tactics completely screwing over 10, and they ended up with a worse deal.

Yeah that article is a real eye-opener.

Ten offered 960 mil per year for all cricket to be played FTA but CA wanted $1 Billion. Ridiculous decision to lock it to pay TV for the next 6 years. Boggles the mind

Depends which type Legends. Aus tests at home do need to be.

That link backs up leysy's ascertion this will be the pivotal moment cricket in this country turns its way to a niche player.

All in the name of Sutherland getting his bonus, and not in the best interests of the game.

Shame Shame Shame

Sutherland might get his bonus now, but mark leysy's words, this will be the point in time that crickets appeal spirals to the Australian public.

Will be a niche sport struggling to get played in schools within 7 years.

Do not underestimate the impact non FTA for ODI and T20 for the national team will have.

Yeah can see this happening too. My interest has been on the wane for a while now. Sport is at it's tipping point.

If he had any shame he would have fallen on his sword over yellowtapegate. He's all about the $. Seventeen years and he's led Australian cricket down a moral shithole and away from so much that made Australian cricket great. The bloke has a hide putting his hand out for a pay cheque, let alone a bonus.

Sutherland and those wankers at the ACB have just gone a long way to killing off cricket as Australias number one sport and killing off the importance of the Aussie Cricket Team in the scheme of Australian Life.

If kids cant see it they cant be it, and if they do not engage with the sport and have heroes from watching it they wont play its simple.

I always laugh when these wankers always use the excuse of putting money back into grass roots ............................... when they just delivered a program that diminishes the ability of fans and kids access to watching the games.

Sport has passed the tipping point on the scale where corporatisation improved coverage wages facillities etc etc etc to now actually killing the goose that layed its golden eggs etc.

Kudos to Phantom. He called out Sunderland about 10 years ago.

Geez, good memory!

Sutherland should have been forced to resign after the Argus review, after all he presided over the issues that led to that review.

Leaving tests on FTA and not the international ODI and T20s just emphasises how out of touch and incompetect Sutherland and CA really are.

While I don't want to get into a debate about the merits of test cricket, which I loved growing up, but clearly a five day match with no guaranteed result has a limited life-span in this day and age.

And the fact that the media is not going harder at them just shows what a collusion the whole industry is. How can this outcome be good for the public or for the long term future of the sport!

Sutherland must go.

It all sounds like Sutherland's bonus kicker came in at the $1billion number.

I don't get why already highly paid execs get bonuses for these TV deals. They are paid a shitload to do that anyway as that is their job. If they can't do it, then find someone else.
