HUN reporting Nic Maddinson is now left without a state contract. NSW left him off their roster and yesterday was the cutoff for any other state to contract him.

That’s a fairly quick fall from grace for him. Was a test player just 14 months ago.
 
7 have apparently employed David Barham as their head of cricket. Barham was behind the BBL coverage and before that the AFL coverage when it was on 10 and is a fantastic sports producer. With this news I'm now looking forward to seeing 7's coverage.

Lost his way playing hit and giggle slog cricket like many others and wont be the last.

Will bob up in QLD, SA, WA or TAS when hes allowed too Im sure.

Some mixed thoughts on this. Sounds a bit amateurish for me, but let's see....
 
I think Langer is the wrong choice, he's an easy choice. He's completely biased towards WA players, and from my POV he's an establishment figure that was very much a part of Steve Waugh's philosophy of mental disintegration that has in large part led to the current cultural situation.

I really wanted Dizzy Gillespie to get the job.

What has Langer done, he has won 3 big bash titles on the back of Mitch Johnson and a couple of Mickey Mouse 50 over titles, big deal!!!
Wa haven't got within a bulls roar of a shield title since Langers been coaching them.

Yep, he's done nothing to suggest he's a good coach, he's part of the boys club of Aust. cricket.

Agree. Different set of rules they seem to have for themselves, pretty much over cricket in all forms now, oh except for my sons

Batting a bit ordinary as well. Still, something of interest instead of all the mindless T20 crap that pervades international cricket now.
